If you conquer territory in war, you should give citizenship to the folks living in that territory. If you refuse because they’re the wrong ethnic group, you should cede control of the territory. If you refuse to do either, there’s a word for the resulting political situation!

Not only do the short episodes offer a natural opt out point but it’s also just feels easier to pause a tv show to pick up later than a movie

This is also why I think you sometimes see "I'm too tired for a movie, I'll watch a TV show instead", even though the TV show might be more narratively complex in some ways (more characters, plots, backstory etc). You can watch a TV show you're familiar with more passively.

So my take here is:
1. When people talk about reading, "screens", etc, they're really talking about active engagement vs. passive engagement.
2. Assume: "Active engagement is good, passive engagement is bad."
3. Reading text is NECESSARILY active.
4. Audiobooks MIGHT be passive.
