Since 1973, @FSUClassics and @FSUIP have led the excavations at Cetamura del Chianti — an archaeological site that has, uniquely, been home to ancient Etruscans, Romans, and Italians of the Middle Ages. Recently, @FSUClassics' Nancy de Grummond (top right) — who's served as the site's director since 1983 — was part of a research team that sequenced the DNA of 2,000-year-old grape seeds, mapping the most extensive genetic history of ancient grapevines recovered from a single archaeological site. We checked in with our Biology in London Program students to see what they've been up to recently, and we got major FOMO from their visit to the Hunterian Museum! The museum — named after the 18th century surgeon and anatomist John Hunter — showcases over 2,000 anatomical preparations from Hunter’s original collection, alongside instruments, equipment, models, paintings and archive material, which trace the history of surgery from ancient times to the latest robot-assisted operations.
