昨年のSHSの時点で既に発売予告があったので製作は自体は決めていました。ガンプラ界隈の派手さを何とか取り込めないものかと自分なりにあれこれしたものの手の遅さが爆発。時間が厳しくある程度で諦めた感じで無念。

The Volonaut Airbike is a Star Wars-inspired flying bike built by Tomasz Patan.
It is a one-person hoverbike powered by jet engines and can reach speeds up to 200 km/h.
Made with carbon fiber and 3D-printed parts, it is extremely lightweight and can move easily through tight spaces.

TienKung Ultra finished the full 21.0975 km in 1:15:00 — fully autonomous, zero human intervention. 🤖
No repeat win this time.
But it was easily one of the most striking robots on the course —
clean gait, stable motion, and the most human-like running form out there.
It took home the “Best Design” award,
and that actually says more than the podium this time.
Because this isn’t a marathon-only build.
TienKung Ultra is a general-purpose humanoid,
already moving toward real-world deployment.
And it didn’t show up alone.
Teams from Peking University, Fudan, HUST, BIT, Beihang, HKUST(GZ), TUM and more
were all building on the same TienKung platform.
That’s what an open ecosystem looks like —
shared hardware, shared stack, different solutions on top.
And just a day before, it took the Robot Warrior Challenge —
fully autonomous through obstacle tasks modeled on real-world rescue and hazardous operations.
That’s the part that matters.
This is no longer just about speed.
It’s about autonomy — and whether these systems can actually handle real environments.
That’s what future winners are going to look like.

El Vought XF8U-3 Crusader III realizó su vuelo inaugural en junio de 1958 y era, técnicamente, muy superior al F-4 Phantom II con el que competía. Solo se fabricaron 5 unidades. Podía alcanzar Mach 2.39 y era increíblemente ágil gracias a dos grandes aletas ventrales que se desplegaban en vuelo. A pesar de su rendimiento asombroso, la Marina eligió el Phantom porque este último tenía dos asientos, permitiendo que un segundo tripulante manejara el complejo radar y los misiles.

Well, given how some readers here are such enthusiasts on the Yak-38 - aptly summed here as "a great engineering feat, but useless combat aircraft" (which was its role) - here is some footage of it at work, part from a documentary on its "never was" successor, the YAK-141 Freestyle.
(And no, the 141 will never be as good as the Harrier, simply because it never went past prototype stages, and "what if" only wins on War Thunder)

Yak-38 Forger pilots on a PR picture aboard the Soviet Novorossiysk aircraft carrier - or as they called it, "heavy aircraft cruiser", because aircraft carriers were seen as "objects of capitalist oppression." A similar concept to the British Harrier Jet, compared to it, the Yak-38 had a much-reduced payload and endurance, along with poor reliability. Of 231 built, a third were lost in accidents before being retired in the 90s. And the Harrier still hangs around...

The AC-47 Spooky gunship, converted from the WWII-era C-47 Skytrain, first entered combat in Vietnam on December 15, 1964, orbiting targets at night with three side-firing 7.62mm miniguns that could unleash up to 18,000 rounds per minute total while dropping flares for illumination. It defended Special Forces outposts and hamlets by circling in a pylon turn to rain continuous fire, saving bases like Tranh Yend on its first big night mission in December 1964 with 4,500 rounds and never losing a single protected village. Cruising at 175 mph with loiter times of hours, the 41 aircraft that served there flew thousands of close air support sorties before later gunships took over. 🫡
