@WendiLouWho00 @ibdgirl76 Great idea, but here's a better one: Do not have surgery unless you actually have pain medication in hand, as there is still no guarantee that a pharmacy will fill a prescription for it when you have one.

So far this morning I've heard from double mastectomy pt, hysterectomy pt, D & C pt, C-section pt - all denied opioids post-op. Tylenol only. They're miserable, yet "experts" continue to tell you all how amazing it is that they no longer need opioids post-op.

“I had Covid and I’m fine”, is a statement I hear a lot. Unfortunately it doesn’t account for the hidden/delayed damage Covid causes. Some other dangerous viruses have minimal or no symptoms during the infection phase but cause major damage later. HIV can have no symptoms upon infection, for years, but lead to AIDS, HPV can have no symptoms, and lead to cancer. Perceived absence of symptoms or damage in the acute phase is not a safety net or a reason to feel comfortable catching Covid repeatedly. Avoid Covid.

My insurance is trying to determine if they're going to cover Littlest Mans NICU stay and called with questions. Ins: Why did you pick X hospital for your child? Me: I didn't, I was told after I came out of surgery at Y hospital that they were transferring him to X because it was the closest NICU and he was not breathing on his own reliably. They'd already started the process without me. Ins: Okay and why did you pick Y hospital initially? Me: Well I was actively bleeding out from a ruptured placenta and it was the closest one, I was trying not to die. Are you not aware this was an emergency c section at 34 weeks? And also Y hospital is in network. Ins: Yes but if you had gone to in network hospital Z you could have transferred to an in network NICU. Me: *Googles* That's 2.5hrs away. I was bleeding out. I had to receive 2 pints of blood and I was only bleeding for 30 minutes before they started my transfusion. I would have been dead if I drove there. Ins: Well it transfers to the appropriate NICU for your plan, next time please try to go there. Lol okay, next time I'm pregnant and bleeding out I'll be sure to do that. This is insane.

🚨URGENT: Looking for a healthcare lawyer in NY who advocates for patients. A friend of mine who is a mom of 3 young kids, needs time-sensitive spinal surgery or risks paralysis. @Aetna approved it — then denied it and forced her into a third-party surgeon's network that is delaying care, swapping doctors, and pushing treatment out of state. She’s now stuck in limbo while the clock is ticking, and every delay increases risk. This is why "health insurance" isn't healthcare. If you know a lawyer who can help, please DM. Thanks.

Forest Park Pharmacy
Forest Park Pharmacy@ForestParkPharm·
The American healthcare system is a series of traps designed to drain your bank account while providing the bare minimum of clarity. A mother recently shared her experience after taking her five-month-old daughter to the doctor for a fever. Following standard procedure, the physician performed a nose swab to test for the flu and COVID-19. The tests came back negative, the fever broke, and everything seemed fine—until the bill arrived. The total for that single nose swab was $984. Despite having insurance through Cigna, the "coverage" was essentially a formality. Out of the nearly $1,000 charge, the insurance company covered less than half. The family was left with a bill for $443.27 for a service that most people would estimate to cost around $100 to $300. The reason for these astronomical prices is a complete lack of transparency. In the current system, prices are essentially fictional. Because we rely entirely on middlemen—insurance companies and administrators—we have lost all touch with the actual value of medical services. Prices are free to float to unimaginable levels because the consumer is rarely informed of the cost until after the service is rendered. Direct Pricing: You should be in charge of your healthcare dollars. Transparency: You should know the price of your medication or service before you receive it. If you are tired of being trapped by insurance companies and hidden fees, it is time to choose a pharmacy that prioritizes fair and transparent pricing.

Things that are actually harming women’s health (and no, it’s not freaking seed oils): -Chronic sleep deprivation disguised as “just part of motherhood” -The mental load of running a household while working full-time -Delayed diagnoses because symptoms are dismissed as “anxiety” or “stress” -Lack of paid maternity leave and real postpartum support -Being told to “just lose weight” instead of getting evidence-based care -Skipping meals, movement, and medical appointments because everyone else comes first -Medical gaslighting, especially when it comes to pain, fatigue, and hormonal symptoms -Structural barriers to care: time, cost, childcare, access -Workplace systems that punish pregnancy and caregiving -The expectation that women should function at 100%…all the time…no matter what But sure, tell me more about seed oils. 🙄

Elizabeth Warren is introducing a wealth tax. The bill would impose an annual 2% tax on the net worth of households over $50 million, with billionaires paying 3%. And, to deter the ultra-rich from leaving the country to avoid the tax, the bill would also levy a 40% "exit tax" on anyone worth more than $50 million who renounces their U.S. citizenship.

@VinoNStrosGal I use Good RX Gold so I don’t have to navigate insurance. I ask the pharmacist at the current fill on what date I may refill. (Sometimes they lie🙄 Sometimes I secretly record them on my phone). Grocery stores seem more lenient than chain pharmacies.

Serious question for the chronic pain community: How are you all managing the pharmacy side of pain management right now? I’m not talking about prescribing, we already have legitimate prescriptions from our doctors and are under pain management contracts. I’m talking about actually getting them filled. Because more and more of us are running into the same situation: Calling 20, 30, 50 pharmacies… Being turned away due to geography, inventory, or fear of liability… And then facing very real, very dangerous withdrawal when we’ve done nothing wrong and are taking our medications exactly as prescribed. • This isn’t about cutting corners. • This isn’t about anything illegal. • And it’s definitely not about doing anything that would violate a pain contract. This is about compliant patients trying to stay stable. So let’s help each other. What has actually worked for you? • Planning ahead? • Building relationships with a pharmacy? • Communication strategies? • Timing? • Anything that has helped you avoid being stuck on fill day? Every state is different. Every situation is different. But knowledge matters, and sharing it might help someone avoid a crisis. Let’s keep this focused on legal, real-world strategies that support continuity of care.

Went to the grocery store this morning Bread, milk, eggs $47.63 The screen asked if I'd like to round up to support a children's hospital I pressed no The cashier looked at me The woman behind me looked at me My wife looked at the ceiling Again This company made $14 billion last year They can round up Went to get gas after The pump asked if I'd like to add $1 to support veterans I support veterans I pressed no A $200 billion oil company asking me to fund their charity while I'm paying $3.89 a gallon That's not philanthropy That's outsourcing Drove through for lunch Taco Bell The screen said "round up for education?" A fast food company asking me to fund scholarships while paying their employees $11 an hour I pressed no My wife said "you know you're arguing with screens today" She was right But the screens started it Went to the pharmacy Picked up a prescription $340 after insurance The screen asked if I'd like to donate $1 to help families in need I just paid $340 for a medication that costs $4 to manufacture And now you want a dollar I pressed no The pharmacist said "it's just a dollar" I said "it's never just a dollar" She didn't respond Got home My wife said "you said no to a children's hospital, veterans, education, and families in need today" I said "no. I said no to four corporations who want me to fund their goodwill so they can put it in their annual report" She was quiet Then she said "you're not wrong" I said "I know" She said "but you're still going to look like a monster" I said "I'd rather look like a monster than quietly fund a billion-dollar company's PR strategy at the register" She didn't disagree But she didn't look at me either Plz fix. American shows his electricity bill for one of his properties is over $600 per month The property is under construction and doesn’t even have a HVAC system yet “Anyone else feel like they're getting ripped off by Dominion Energy. This is another one of my properties — I just wanna show you the property and you tell me is there any chance is this bill is 600 and some dollars?” “I'm literally standing in the middle of the kitchen and look all around. You can even see outside. It's an absolute empty shell. There's no tenants here. There's no HVAC running, there's no lights on, there's no anything. There's no appliances. They'll be behind me here shortly. There's literally nothing. There are no utilities in this house, nothing. There's not even walls or doors, there's nothing. This is mid-construction” Americans are being robbed blind
