This is why we need local government to work. Imagine as a young guy just building your life gradually and you're able to afford something like this, you have contributed in your own little way to develop that area. What is now left is for the government to play its part by making the place much more habitable by interlocking the roads, do proper drainage, street light and planting trees. This is how we develop communities

“Allah will not forgive me…” My first visit to Northern Nigeria was in 2018 when I was posted to Nasarawa State for my one-year compulsory NYSC. Before then, I had never travelled beyond Enugu State. The North was completely new territory for me. When my call-up letter came out and I saw Nasarawa State, I prepared myself mentally for the journey. There was no direct vehicle from Aba to Lafia, so I was advised to travel to Makurdi, Benue State first, then continue to Nasarawa. I arrived at the park in Makurdi around 4:30pm and immediately found a vehicle loading for Lafia. I entered and waited. For over 30 minutes, I was the only passenger. Concerned about the time, I approached the driver and told him I might need to find an alternative since it was getting late and this was my first time traveling to the North. He begged me to stay and promised: “No matter what happens, I will carry you to your destination.” I trusted him and went back to my seat. Around 6:00pm, another vehicle arrived from Enugu with six passengers heading to Lafia. The vehicle I had been sitting in could only carry six people. The loaders began transferring their luggage into my vehicle and asked one of them to board another car. The group refused — they insisted on traveling together. Then something shocking happened. The agberos brought out my bags and told me to find another vehicle. I was angry and frustrated. It was getting dark. I didn’t know the town. I had already waited for over an hour. When I realized the loaders were Igbo like me, I pleaded with them in Igbo. They didn’t listen. I walked up to the driver and reminded him of his promise. I told him it wasn’t fair to abandon me now that he had seen full passengers. He was quiet for a moment. Then he said something I will never forget: “If I do this to you, Allah will not forgive me.” He asked all six passengers to come down from his vehicle and told them to board another car. The loaders were furious. They insulted him, calling him a bad businessman who didn’t have sense. But the driver stood his ground. He returned my bags into the vehicle, started the engine, and began driving, with only me as his passenger. I couldn’t believe it. He crossed River Benue with just me in the car and kept driving. At that point, I even started feeling sorry for him. If I were in his position, would I have done the same? About three to five minutes into the journey, he received a call from the park. Another vehicle had just arrived with five passengers going to Lafia. He looked at me and asked, “Should I turn back?” I said yes. He reversed, returned to the park, picked up the five passengers, and we finally headed to Lafia. That was my first personal encounter with a Muslim man in the North. Till today, I still think about the spirit that made that driver willing to carry just one passenger — at his own loss — simply because he gave his word. You may be Christian. You may be Muslim. You may be a traditional worshipper. But before anything else, we are human beings. There are good people in every religion. There are bad people in every religion. Your prayer should simply be this: May you never meet a bad person irrespective of religion or tribe. Kalu Kelechi Kalu

So according to a FAAN official, ValueJet Airlines is spreading fake news about Lt. Yerima trying to board their flight with his service pistol in Abuja. He wasn't even booked on any flight that day, not ValueJet or any other. He was just escorting a senior retired naval officer via the Nigerian Air Force wing, per protocol. No boarding attempt happened, no breach by him. FAAN has challenged ValueJet to show the passenger manifest proving he was flying. No matter what they do, they can’t bring Yerima down.

For disobeying him over his sit-at-home abolishment, Gov. Soludo Shuts down Onitsha Main Market The Anambra State Government has ordered a one-week shutdown of the Onitsha Main Market following the failure of traders to comply with official directives. Governor Chukwuma Soludo issued the order on Monday, January 26, 2026, after traders reportedly refused to open for business in defiance of the state government's directive against the enforcement of the "sit-at-home" order. The shutdown is effective from today, Monday, January 26, 2026, and will last for one week. According to the state government, the decision is aimed at enforcing law and order, discouraging economic sabotage, and making it clear that actions undermining government authority and economic activities will not be tolerated. Security agencies have been directed to ensure full compliance during the shutdown period, while traders have been warned against attempting to operate within the market. The government reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and the economic stability of Anambra State, urging residents and business owners to cooperate with lawful directives designed to maintain peace and normalcy.

Once did an appraisal. Scored myself 98/100. Exceptional performance at the firm is rated at 90 and above. During the review with my Boss, everything was so clear that he didn't have any justifiable reason to reduce my score other than "Qudus, but you know you are not perfect." In the end, he brought the score down to 90—noting that he knew I performed exceptionally well and since exceptional performance starts from 90, it's still a win-win. Lol. What was the trick? Every morning, when I get to work, I have my sticky note open on my PC, put the date and write out my to-dos. As I move on with the day, I tick off the to-dos, as well as add any other things that I have done outside the to-dos, even if it's as little as attending a 30-minute meeting to clarify the tax implications of a transaction to the HR team. The next morning, I will come back to my sticky note, put "done" in front of everything I was able to get done and subsequently, copy the entire sticky note into a Google Doc titled "Daily Achievements" I repeat this daily to the best of my abilities. At intervals, I check through the "Daily Achievements" doc to see if the things I have there are aligning with the JDs in my employment letter. If I notice any gap, I try to position myself to do things I haven't done before that could potentially help close the gap. I did this until I was able to earn N1.5m from a job that hired me on a N450k salary.

Scrap the 36 states and channel resources directly to the 774 Local Governments. Abolish the Federal House of Reps, retain only the Senate, and end constituency projects. Let the people elect their 774 Local Government Chairmen, and let those Chairmen, in turn, elect the President. This will drastically cut election costs while strengthening grassroots governance. The Local Government is the true key to impact.

This video offends me greatly. I think that the relevant agencies MUST monitor ALL orphanages consistently, not just when they receive complaints. As a matter of fact, let all orphanage homes go through a sort of reform phase, like banks, and be re-certified only if they meet the standards. I find this highly vexatious. Kudos to the Public Complaints Commission for acting. I hope it is not too late.
