@Terkelfisk The Emperor was explicitly trying to decentralize and let humanity govern itself (he formed the senatorum imperialis).

@FaithAndAnger I've always been split on this issue. Because I do believe the Emperor strived for a centralized authoritarian state, very close to the Fascist ideal. But the Emperor's empire died 10k years ago, and what we have know is a decentralized mess paying tithe to a crown. Very feudal.

Hold on, you people have been calling the Imperium fascist for decades but suddenly it's feudal now LIKE WE'VE BEEN SAYING?!

I reviewed the lore about Roboute's 500 world project. I won't lie, it's looking pretty grim. Roboute is replacing the semi-independent systems of Imperial worlds (feudalism) with straight-up fascism, Astartes fascism! The lore treats this as a good thing. The only way that mankind can survive what's to come. What is GW smoking?! He is doing it forcefully. Sure, he asks nicely first, but if he is refused, his Ultramarines and their legions of Auxilia will force the worlds to kneel before Macragge. The disobedient rulers who cling to the old ways and/or are more loyal to Terra are replaced with Space Marines or mortal rulers who know their place. And all of them answer to the Tetrarchs, who in turn answer to Roboute, not the Emperor and certainly not the High Lords of Terra. The resources and manpower of the Imperial worlds drawn into the sphere of Ultramar flow toward Macragge rather than Terra. The wealthy industrial world of Garranox is on the brink of breaking itself as it attempts to pay the tithe to Terra and fulfill its obligation to Ultramar, so it's unrealistic for Imperial worlds to support both sides. Roboute plans to enforce his social and political reforms across hundreds of worlds. In the name of progress and enlightenment, Roboute is employing tyrannical means. It's a precursor for his new vision for the Imperium. The irony here is that what Roboute is doing in the south echoes what Abaddon is doing in the north. Following the theme of Roboute and Abaddon being mirror images of each other, Abaddon's Dark Imperium is a mirror of Roboute's expanding Ultramar. Both claim that they are honouring the ideals of the Great Crusade. Both want to save the Imperium from itself and reshape it in the image of Space Marine supremacy (in opposition to the explicit wishes of the Emperor). So, how is Avenging Son any better than the Warmaster? Imperial traditionalists and conservatives are raising alarms against this overstep by the Primarch. The nobility across many worlds within and nearby Ultramar are staging resistance. Inquisitors are monitoring the situation. And surely the High Lords are sweating bullets. Now, why is it funny? Imperial fans for years rejected the notion that the Imperium is fascist, but here is Roboute with his plans to blanket the entirety of the Imperium under fascistic rule. Truly, in many ways, Roboute is Wokehammer's greatest ally.

@Anon_Guy98 Because the two are incompatible philosophies. Fascism requires full state control of all functions of commerce and society while feudalism is heavily decentralized, ie without state control.

It's easy to hate the imperial larper, but do you have the strenght to hate the t'au larper? Suddenly the Imperium isnt fascist but instead feudal? Make up your minds. Besides if the Imperium nobility is pissed, I am happy. Recongrationistmaxxing, all hail the avenging son.

You mean the offshore wind turbines? My first career was wildlife conservation, so i’m glad you brought this up. 😊☢️ When offshore wind turbines are built, the noise from pile driving can stress or disorient marine mammals like whales and dolphins, the sediment stirred up will also smother bottom dwelling organisms such as clams, crabs and some species of aquatic worms. The structures themselves alter currents and sediment patterns, which can shift habitats and affect feeding and breeding grounds for a lot of species. Overall, marine mammals usually experience the most noticeable behavioral impact from offshore wind turbines. Over time, sure the foundations will act a lil bit like an artificial reef and attract some fish and invertebrates…but this can also disrupt natural predator to prey relationships. Small amounts of metals from cables and some coatings on turbine parts and leaks of lubricants or hydraulic fluids during maintenance can also enter the water. Other concerns (that I have already mentioned btw) is interference with bird migration and bats with somewhat potential changes to water quality in localized areas too. It’s not “super” catastrophic sure, but these turbines DO and WILL introduce both physical and chemical changes to the marine environment that need better careful management….that nuclear does not. Nuclear power plants don’t physically alter marine habitats on this scale, while they do use water for cooling they don’t create structures that disrupt ecosystems or release materials that smother or stress marine life in the same way.

@MedievalScholar This is confirmation bias, you would like to have warrior ancestors and you provide a made-up argument that proves it. We all have many ancestors, but in any given period they were just a few and the probability would be a lot lower.

You have two parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great grandparents. Keep multiplying it and go all the way back to 1000 years ago. The amount of ancestors you have is staggeringly high. You’re confident not a single one of them was a warrior? Science disagrees. Every person with European ancestry is related in one way or another to nobility, kings and even emperors (Charlemagne) You had ancestors that were knights, dukes, kings, emperors, lords and more.

Calling for a mass retreat with no plan for an orderly withdrawal will %100 result in horrendous casualties among the Guard. Not to mention the literal billions of civilians living in the hives. Yarrick did the thing Commissars are supposed to do and stopped a monumental disaster before it could truly begin. While your intent is noble, its rather naive in practice if you dont account for the bigger picture of the war as a whole.

Thinking about the "Return to Armageddon" video, and besides the fact that the Steel Legion has been left to the wayside, another thing left a sour taste in my mouth. Might be the T'au within me, but to kill a man like the Governor, who seems to value guardsmen's lives, is foul

This also makes @NornQueenKya 's little comment here a completely idiotic and pointless attempt at weird virtue signaling. Because if she really wanted to take that stance, or had put more thought into it beyond 'I must make myself look like a good person' she would've realized the right thing to do to preserve human life would be to hold the line. Rather then a panic stricken retreat across all fronts. If for no other reason then to at least attempt to evacuate the hives. Even if every last Guardsman died on that planet but every civilian was evacuated from the hives that's orders of magnitude more lives saved then lost.
