Admit it: Your kid mispronounced a word three years ago and now the whole family says it that way. What's the word in your house? (We still say 'pasketti' and I’m not stopping anytime soon.)

Delayed while they check the "small oil leak in the right engine". Normally I'd be concerned but I drive car with a German twin turbo V8 so this is basically just confirmation that there's actually oil in the engine at all. Unbothered. Ask me anything

This is a kind of dreadfully common Northern Michigan ugly-winter sky. There are no clouds and when you look up it is a very ugly yellow gray, if that color is possible. Yes, it is. This is it. There are no shadows cast because there is no sunlight that breaks through. The ground is a dull white from half melted snow. The light is actually sickening. Really. It makes you ill. Even when you are indoors the way the light falls through the windows and onto your floors is depressing. It makes the inside of your house look uglier. Your rooms look terrible, the floors and your tables are awful. Everything that is a little wrong is blown up bigger. Any of the mess looks worse and more depressing, it makes you more irritated. It's not until the sun comes out that you realize everything isn't awful and that your house isn't a total ramshackle shack. This sky is nature's equivalent of a bare fluorescent bulb on concrete. It's very bad for you. I have tried to take hyper-realistic photos this winter and this might be one of the most realistic, and most depressing for that reason.

@owroot In the summer I do my best to go through town around the 15 or 45 minute marks. Helps to avoid the bridge.

Charlevoix is a good town. I drive through it often. They really crammed all the shops and restaurants on basically one street which creates a very cool downtown that always feels bustling in a small town kind of way. The bridge is kind of a crazy pain in the summer. Boats always coming in and out from the big lake. Very easy to get stuck when bridge is going up. Can add some serious time. Oddly a lot of traffic downtown. You can take the ferry to Beaver Island from Charlevoix which I have done and is very cool. Like all little towns on Lake Michigan, Charlevoix is a beautiful little town.

Charlevoix, Michigan feels like a storybook harbor town where sailboats drift through Round Lake and whimsical stone “mushroom houses” rise from the streets like something out of a fairy tale.

One of the reasons I want to leave this site: I can’t have a theological discussion with a fellow Christian without them telling me I’m a demon or saying I don’t know God at all. That’s shameful. Why are we like this?

>four FEET of snow in the UP in March >60MPH winds What in the actual hell is going on
Michigan Storm Chasers@MiStormChasers

One of the most absurd snow forecasts we’ve ever made here at MSC, we’ve had to add an impromptu orange color for higher totals. Key Notes: •Snow begins to work into Michigan late tonight, but becomes more widespread during the early morning hours of Sunday. This snow continues through Tuesday morning for the UP, and becomes a snow/freezing rain/sleet mix for northern lower Michigan beginning Sunday afternoon/evening. •Winds will gust between 40-60mph statewide both on Sunday and Monday. •This will be a full on blizzard for much of the Upper Peninsula •Expect scattered power outages across the state •Travel will be near impossible for the UP and northern lower Snow totals will be between one and four FEET when all is said and done on Tuesday in the UP. Further south, a mix is expected which will keep accumulations lower, and also will provide a sharp cutoff of accumulations. The difference between a foot of snow and 2” may be the width of one county. Further south, this system will end as snow for lower Michigan on Tuesday, which is why we have a wide area within a trace to an inch, and western lower in a 1-3” zone with wording of higher totals possible. We may need to adjust totals here as new data comes clearer for Tuesday. Stay tuned for the icing portion of this forecast. Northern lower Michigan will see significant icing which is not shown or communicated in this forecast graphic or write up.

Along with significant snowfall, comes the chance of significant ice accretion. We’ve seen a bit of a northward shift over the last 24 hours which has taken higher accretion amounts and shifted them. We still expect a corridor of 0.50” or more across Cheboygan, Boyne City, Gaylord, and Rogers City regions. The further south you go, the less ice accretion becomes. Within the 0.25” and 0.50” zones, we expect multiple power outages along with scattered tree damage as a result of the weight of the ice and gusty winds combining. These outages may be multi-day outages, and those in these two zones should take necessary precautionary actions to ensure you are ready. Outside of the heaviest ice accretion, near impossible travel should be expected due to icing and heavy snow that may blow around. Speaking of blowing around, winds will be gusting between 40-50mph across northern lower Michigan on both Sunday and Monday. This will aide in further worsening of tree damage and power outages. The WORST of the freezing rain occurs Sunday evening and continues into Monday morning. We expect Monday to be the worst of the event for the icing area. Please see our previous forecast for snowfall information, and please reference our wind map set to be posted around 7:30pm which focuses on Sunday.

My heart is with the Old Dominion community today. No student should fear for their safety on campus, and no Virginian should feel unsafe in their own community. We must confront the reality of gun violence and work together to ensure our schools and neighborhoods are places of safety, not fear.

Before you go about celebrating the US strikes against Iran, stop to think for a second, could that money have been spent better elsewhere? Think of it this way, with that money California could have built 0 miles of high speed rail.

If someone told me what I am about to tell you a year ago, I would have called it a fairytale. I went to church this morning with my friend Joe. He had invited me months ago and I called him last night to ask if Holly and I could attend with him today. He said he would be honored. He said Bible Study was at 10 and service was at 11 and he sent me the address to Victory Baptist Church in Bristol. When we arrived this morning, we were greeted by so many people and everyone was asking if we were "Joe's friends". We felt welcomed immediately. They led us to the Bible Study group and the leader said, "We have studying Psalms". The same Psalms that led me through the doors of a church for the first time in nearly 3 decades, a week ago. I felt that was a sign I was in the right place. Through the rest of the service, I felt like it was time. Time to commit. Time to turn my life over to him. But when the alter call came, I couldn't go. I just didn't feel worthy, as I have wrestled with for forever. All those people. So pretty and neat. So I didn't go. After the service, Joe asked me to speak with his Pastor, who wanted to thank us for coming, and I said I was happy to meet him. And then it happened. He thanked me for coming and he asked if I knew that Jesus died for my sins. I responded that I have been working on understanding, and then he shook me to my core. You see, I know 1 verse from the Bible by heart. Only 1. I remembered it from my youth because of a song. Romans 10:9 - "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." That's it. That's the 1 verse I know. I know what others say, but I can't quote it. I don't know where it is at. But I know that one. His next words to me? He asked me if I knew Romans and he recited that verse. The only verse I knew by heart, word for word. That was my proof. That was my evidence that today was the day. I stopped him mid verse as I broke down in tears and asked him to pray with me and he led me to the Alter with Joe and several others that I'm not yet sure of their name. Today, I confessed with my mouth, the Lord Jesus.... and I came up a saved man. Today was the day. Today. It happened. I have no idea what to do next or where it goes.... but today, I can say that thank God, I am not where I once was..... but I am NOW where I am. To everyone that has worked on me for years now. Thank you. Thank you for not giving up even when my words were hateful. I didn't know what I didn't know. I still don't, honestly.... But I am not that man today. Today was a great day.
