@ArcadeHalf GitHub completely opened up game dev for me. I'm no longer afraid of making changes that may break the project.

After my computer died, I started religiously committing game dev changes to Git. I didn't do it before because I wasn't sure how Azure DevOps and LFS worked. But it works fine, and now I'm making lots of experimental changes with zero stress.

@HardwareSteam My understanding is the Steam Frame will be able to track the Steam Controller - so yes 👍

The Steam Controller releases in 24 hours! Will you be buying?

@purplemikey I still use an original Oculus Rift for development since the wired connection is so reliable.

I really hope PCVR Steam Frame is more stable than link is for game dev. VR game dev is hard enough not to have to fight with a headset 🥲

@UnityCodeMonkey I'm really glad I'm using the Unity engine - it seems to be great for VR. That being said, I think the most important thing is to find an engine you like, and to stick with it.

Why did you decide on Unity? Why not Unreal, Godot, GameMaker?

@pcgamer I hope Apple returns to the medium one day 🙏 I never saw the AVP as a gaming headset though, so this type of device - while incredible - has not been my personal focus. I've actually been using the original Oculus Rift for the development of my game 😁

Apple has reportedly 'given up' on the Vision Pro headset and that doesn't seem like a good thing for VR, generally pcgamer.com/games/vr/apple…

@Rorg453089 @PaulTassi Loving the progression - I’ve been running Perimeter and getting all of the unstable materials I need for faction upgrades. I’m excited to eventually get to Dire Marsh and start doing the quests I have there - but Perimeter has been SO FUN.

@fewerwrong Disabling the internet on launch fixed the issue with the Rift and Quest 3! Quest 3 it only worked in wired mode though (wireless I ran into the same issue I was facing before - stuck in load screen, then black screen when game launches).

@FakeWorldVRBand Could be — does disabling Internet on launch fix both issues? Also, do you see any errors on the PC-side when this happens?

Meta Quest Link is failing for users due to a cert issue. Disabling your internet on restart of the app is a good temp workaround

@fewerwrong Clarification: I get a black screen on Rift - I get stuck in load screen on Quest.

@fewerwrong Thanks for the tip. Early yesterday morning everything was working - then starting late in the morning my headset screen went black. This is for both my wired Rift; Quest 3 with Air Link; and Quest 3 with Link Cable. Been troubleshooting to no avail, excited for a fix!

My mom really loves Enola Holmes on Netflix and she just sent me a Facebook screenshot excited about the third movie's release date (which is fake), the synopsis (which is fake and AI generated) and a new poster (which is AI generated). Bummed me out.

@thomasbrushdev I love these games and have no problem with the term friendslop and actively use it irl - did you coin it? Pretty sweet 🤌

I’ve learned a ton about friend “slop” in the last month in my podcast, and my attitude has definately shifted! It’s not “slop”, necessarily, is it? It’s just friend “games”. “Friend Games”. I like that phrase. What do you guys think? There’s nothing wrong with making small low risk games geared toward having fun with friends!
