@Shyguymask99 Its less him misleading and more you misunderstanding. He was talking about learnpools I.E the move the pokemon learn via leveling.

Smith overblows if not outright misleads about gen 2's problems in his videos, such as when talking about movepools. Like when he says Lantern gets Spark and "that is it", completely omitting the fact Lanturn can learn STAB Surf and STAB Thunder alongside useful status moves. 🧵

If you watched the videos you'd see Smith's criticisms are all valid, he's a huge fan of Johto and approached it from a good faith game design perspective. He even led a project where all the major problems with the games are fixed while still trying to feel like a vanilla game, not a rom hack. Once you play Crystal Legacy, you won't wanna play the original version. It's a love letter. Growing up is realizing that most pokemon games are not very good and have at least one or two major issues affect the quality of the experience. Wanting them to be better and having the resources to improve them is pretty awesome, actually.

@Falvern57 You'd have to say something that made sense for me to fail at it. Comment pretty much just says Zero is closer to a mega man game because its a 2d platformer, even though in all other aspects bn is probably closer to classic megaman.

This is not true in the slightest. You just can’t go backwards. If a Pokémon from Z-A is in Winds and Waves you will be able to put it in there

@TheDragonDAFan Are you serious? Maybe the fact that Pokémon transfered into or from Z-A are restricted to Z-A. Clearly theres an internal data change in Z-A doesnt translate into previous games.

@jadefortnitex It was never promised that everything that connects to home would have guaranteed 2-way transfer, no strings attached. Transfer compatibility charts wouldn't exist in the first place if that was the case.

@Falvern57 The conflicts arise for Pokemon transferred from games with different data structures (Go, LGPLGE). Those Pokemon are converted in a way that cannot be converted back properly. Bank Pokemon work fine with SwSh-SV because they all use the same basic data structure.

@TheDragonDAFan You cant transfer ANYTHING into Lets Go. Even pokemon that come from Lets Go cant go back into Lets Go. If Home's sole purpose to prevent one way transfers no matter what, then why cant pokemon be sent into Lets Go??

@Falvern57 I'm pretty sure the Pokemon data structures in those games are completely different from the ones used for most other Pokemon games. I highly doubt that's also the case for Legends Z-A. You couldn't even transfer Bank Pokemon to LGPLGE, whereas you could for SwSh.

@TheDragonDAFan It mitigates conflicts not prevents them outright. Why would transfer compatibility charts even exist at all, if everything transfered seamlessly without conflict??

@kurisu_lowen @Falvern57 @jadefortnitex Home is not Bank. Home has a built-in system that creates separate profiles for each Pokemon based on what game they were deposited in. Bank does not have that. Home has a better system that prevents data conflicts across games and it has existed for nearly 4 years.

@jadefortnitex Pokemon Bank on 3DS functioned similarly to Home on Switch and this same restriction applied to gen 7 transfers. If you sent something from ORAS or X&Y into Sun/Moon, it couldnt go back. Just because this is the first instance on Switch doesnt mean its never happened before now

@RundownA @JoeMerrick yup for all of home’s life you’ve been able to send to and from any game on the switch without an issue for some reason this guy is acting like that was never the case and that it’s unreasonable for people to be caught off guard that it’s not possible for these games lol
