@DreamerPli @Kaphotics No, they didn't. Once a Gen VI Pokemon goes to a Gen VII game, it can't come back. Bank doesn't store different versions of each Pokemon for each game they enter like Home.

@Kaphotics Exactly, even back in Pokemon bank, whenever a new title launched, all previous games would receive a patch to be able to handle compatible pokemon from future games.

@JoeMerrick My best guess is fairness. It was one thing for GO, but for a mainline game, they may not want to tell one group of users "you specifically cannot transfer your Pokémon out of ZA to previous games, but others can", so they limit everyone.

So I am convinced that the Pokémon HOME - Z-A cut off isn't a language issue. With Pokémon that accounts on the ES-LA language that come in from GO, they're locked from being put into games without that language. And, HOME still keeps the data for the other games too. 1/?

@Kaphotics So it could be possible for backwards transfers from Z-A to any other game to be implemented in the future?

The HOME data format is 1000% capable of handling backwards transfers via the HOME tracker; they just simply decided to not allow it. Conditionally sanitizing values was done for SW/SH, just pick safe defaults if the game can't support a given property. It's very disappointing.

@JoeMerrick I hope the plan is to allow non-ES-LA Pokemon from Legends Z-A to be able to go to other games at some point in the future. Unless bringing a Pokemon to Legends Z-A messes up its data, it shouldn't be impossible to do.

@Falvern57 You know what would be great? If TPCI explained what the issue is. Is this going to be a problem every time a new language is added to Pokemon games? Are Winds and Waves Pokemon stuck in those games too?

@TheDragonDAFan Are you serious? Maybe the fact that Pokémon transfered into or from Z-A are restricted to Z-A. Clearly theres an internal data change in Z-A doesnt translate into previous games.

Ok so there’s way too many people in my comments saying a Pokemon will be stuck in Z-A or HOME forever if you put it into Z-A This is not true in the slightest. You just can’t go backwards. If a Pokémon from Z-A is in Winds and Waves you will be able to put it in there

@LahisArt @spookyhours40 @JoeMerrick A Pokemon's language of origin can't change. The values for the other languages are the same as previous Switch titles. Why can't Home just block Pokemon with a language value of 11 from going to previous games then?

@TheDragonDAFan @spookyhours40 @JoeMerrick The Pokémon data gets changed to handle the possibility of the origin language being LatAm Spanish. That make sthe pokemon incompatible with previous titles.

@Falvern57 If TPCI made that clear, we wouldn't have an issue here. It would suck, but at least it's understandable.

@Falvern57 You can take Pokemon out of Let's Go, store them in Home, and move them back in. It's been that way for 5 years. Let's Go use a different data structure from the rest of the Switch games, which is why you can't transfer anything from Bank, SwSh-SV, or Go Transporter to them

@Falvern57 The conflicts arise for Pokemon transferred from games with different data structures (Go, LGPLGE). Those Pokemon are converted in a way that cannot be converted back properly. Bank Pokemon work fine with SwSh-SV because they all use the same basic data structure.

@TheDragonDAFan It mitigates conflicts not prevents them outright. Why would transfer compatibility charts even exist at all, if everything transfered seamlessly without conflict??

@Falvern57 I'm pretty sure the Pokemon data structures in those games are completely different from the ones used for most other Pokemon games. I highly doubt that's also the case for Legends Z-A. You couldn't even transfer Bank Pokemon to LGPLGE, whereas you could for SwSh.
