@greyhoundblocks @UnseenJapanSite i heat it up for 20 seconds in the microwave and it is incredibly hard to keep the strands under control but the flavour is so much more intense this way i can help myself.

There's times Tokyoites live up to their reputation for being cold and distant. But then there's times you're cycling with your daughter and she drops her rubber duck, and while retracing the route 3 separate people flag you down to tell you the intersection they saw her drop it.

@mrjeffu I came across this guy in a small neighbourhood quite a bit west of the downtown. He seemed to refuse a (Japanese) person who wanted to want to buy one. The smell was unmistakable, so he is definitely roasting sweet potatoes but at least at that moment not selling them?

In recent days many people have seen a roasted sweet potato truck in Tokyo that is run by an eccentric ultra-nationalist uyoku. In this clip he's shouting "banzai," and a tourist (?) answered with "Shinzō wo Sasageyo!"[心臓を捧げよ] from Attack on Titan.

ironically there is an nhk program for advanced english learners that analyzes mumbled sentences from real americans. they did a whole segment on how "i munna..." is a way americans say "i'm going to" and the japanese hosts were like 😐

@kankei_arahen uhm, not sure the name but it is right after kids shows on weekdays probably around 10AM but could be as late as noon. it has a fluent blonde women with big eyes as the main host and two japanese co-hosts. if i remember i will try to snag the name next time it comes on.
