The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is facing huge backlash after comments from Senior Vice President Aubrey Quinn. “We consider it piracy. We have lawsuits.” Quinn argued that requiring publishers to support private servers after official servers shut down would create legal and safety concerns. “Those servers could be insecure, they could expose consumers to all kinds of illicit content, including child sexual abuse material.” In a statement sent to PC Gamer after the hearing, the ESA added: “Private servers infringe on the intellectual property (IP) rights of game publishers. Publishers reserve the right to exercise their rights against them.”

I own Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam. I can delete Steam at any time, copy the entire Cyberpunk game folder to another PC or drive, launch the executable directly, and it will play. I truly own it. PlayStation digital games cannot make the same promise.

@TheCartelDel most steam games will NOT just work if u just copy them somewhere else, they will try to launch steam if u open their executables because they still have simple drm that being said the drm is very easy to get rid off
