Along with this, I want to be very clear. Like my father, I fully support maintaining GSP+ as the people of #Pakistan should never be punished for the actions of its leaders. Imran Khan’s sons are still waiting for visas to travel to Pakistan. Senior officials told me they would be free to visit their father. Yet weeks later, that assurance has not materialised. If the government made that promise publicly, why hasn’t it been honoured?

It is heartening to see senior British politicians finally raising vital questions in Parliament regarding the detention of Imran Khan and the deteriorating human rights situation in Pakistan. By explicitly identifying military interference and proposing that trade and aid be contingent upon these issues, they are addressing the core of the crisis. Now is the moment for the British government to demonstrate a genuine commitment to democratic values and human rights, ensuring its foreign policy remains independent and principled.
