BREAKING Japan says it is beginning the release of its strategic oil reserves after the International Energy Agency indicated that the release would begin in Asia and Oceania before other regions. Japan depends on the Middle East for 95% of its oil imports

IEA countries have now confirmed their contributions to our largest ever oil stock release This brings unprecedented additional volumes of oil to the market from 16 March onward. However, opening the Strait of Hormuz is vital for a return to stable flows: iea.li/4sRdUFD

We will do our part as Minister Hodgson said earlier. As the world's 4th largest oil supplier, and the largest within the IEA, Canada will support the collective response with 23.6 million Canadian barrels.
