Chennai | Tamil Nadu CPI(M) Secretary P Shanmugam says, "We have already made it clear that if the AIADMK joins the Tamil Nadu cabinet, we will reconsider our decision to give support to the state government. There has been no change in that position."
On TN Minister Aadhav Arjuna’s statement that the VCK should be included in the cabinet, he says, "We, the Left parties and the VCK, had jointly decided to extend outside support. It is not necessary for the VCK to take exactly the same stand as the Left parties. If VCK feels that an opportunity has arisen and wants to make use of it, there is nothing wrong with that."

To determine the Rs 70 lakh figure, the court used a forward-looking calculation based on life expectancy. It noted that the wife is currently 32 years old and computed her likely financial needs for the next 38 years, using India’s average female life expectancy of around 70 years.
Because she must rely solely on this capital and the returns it generates, the court held that the amount must protect her against inflation and help preserve the standard of living she experienced during the marriage.
The dispute arose from a marriage solemnized in November 2019 under Hindu rites. Shortly after the wedding, the couple moved to Pune, where the husband worked as a senior software engineer. Their relationship soon deteriorated amid allegations made by both sides, eventually leading to a divorce.
The husband claimed that from January 2020, his wife subjected him to mental harassment and filed false accusations involving alleged relationships with colleagues. He also stated that he suffered clinical depression and trauma due to threats from his wife and mother-in-law to falsely implicate him in dowry and sexual harassment cases, which led him to leave the marital home.
In contrast, the wife alleged that her husband was involved in an adulterous relationship with a married woman in Pune and that he tried to force her into involvement with that woman’s husband. She further described him as being of loose character, alleging he had physical relationships with multiple women, and claimed he attempted to kill her causing her severe physical and mental distress.
The husband filed for divorce in 2023 on grounds of cruelty, and the family court issued a divorce decree in 2024.
advocate Ranjan Kumar Singh submitted that the appeal was filed because the original Rs 40 lakh alimony was allegedly excessive. He argued that the husband earns Rs 2.24 lakh per month, lives in rented accommodation in Pune, faces high expenses, and is responsible for supporting his aging parents therefore he could not set aside significant savings.
After considering the submissions, the High Court concluded that the husband’s stable income was sufficient to support the enhanced alimony, emphasizing the wife’s right to live with dignity and reasonable comfort.

@ManishSoi @WeekendInvestng No pain no gain
That is universal logic
If they felt indian interest rates are higher and enjoyed the income for 5-6-7 years can't complain now
They can use the money in India without incurring any loss
But if they wish to repatriate proceeds then they can't complain
English

Because India historically offered far higher interest rates than UAE/US banks 💰🇮🇳
NRIs also keep money here for family, retirement plans, property purchases & familiarity with Indian assets.
Issue is: when INR falls sharply, the currency loss can wipe out the higher interest gains in USD terms.
English

A friend who is a long time resident in UAE was complaining that his INR deposits of the last 2 years are showing capital loss for him as INR has depreciated 17%.
This must be the case for so many NRIs who keep money here and this is very worrying for the flow of forex in.
@nsitharaman a Tax break for all money coming in is a need of the hour !
English

@ManishSoi @WeekendInvestng What makes them deposit in india if they are living in some other country ? Isn't it easier and simple to deposit in that country and enjoy the interest proceeds
English

Absolutely valid concern. Many NRIs earning 6-7% on INR deposits are actually seeing negative real returns after a ~17% INR depreciation in USD terms. 🇮🇳💱
At a time when India needs strong forex inflows, tax incentives or FX-protected NRI schemes are a strategic necessity, not a luxury. @nsitharaman should seriously consider this.

@rishibagree If election commission permits change of candidate @AITCofficial will ask @derekobrienmp to act as impact substitute and obviously he will win the seat by margin of 420 votes

Twisha Sharma’s mother in law, who herself is an accused, is repeatedly speaking to the media to smear her dead daughter in law, a deliberate attempt to mess up the case and yet the MP government and police are allowing her to speak on a case which is subjudice, she is an accused and her son is on the run. Shame on Madhya Pradesh government- till now the accused has called Twisha a schizophrenic, a druggie and someone who spent nights out and parents who were using her to earn money. Just a reminder that Madhya Pradesh continues to be one of the states with the highest rates of reported crimes against women in India

One more absolute shitty artwork by Mamata Banerjee that needs to go asap, please @BJP4Bengal 🙏 @SuvenduWB dada 🙏
Mamata Banerjee got this artwork installed near the Garia crematorium. To ‘beautify’ the area around a public toilet she put in four statues of n@ked kids in the open public place; one attending nature's call, one taking a bath, another urinating, and the girl likely ‘exploring herself’ !
A stone slab sits proudly declaring the installation as inspired by Mamata Bannerjee!

West Bengal | Ahead of the repoll in Falta on May 21, Jahangir Khan, the candidate of the Trinamool Congress, withdrew his candidature
He said, "My objective is to ensure peace and security in Falta, and to foster its maximum possible development. My vision was 'Sonar Falta.' Our Chief Minister is providing a special package for the people of Falta; it is for this very reason that I am withdrawing my nomination. I have withdrawn my candidature in the interest of Falta's development and peace.

The PR, photos and videos emerging from @narendramodi’s foreign tours are increasingly ill-conceived, embarrassing and verging on the fraudulent and bogus. The carefully choreographed imagery feels like badly staged cinema and the avoidance of press interaction and unscripted questions are comical.
This does a grave disservice to India’s proud democratic traditions where prime ministers before Modi were accessible, informed, articulate and dignified in the public arena. If Modi is so fearful of the global press and so unwilling to speak without a pre-approved script, perhaps he should avoid visiting democracies where institutions like a free media still function. Modi should follow his own advice and Work From Home. India’s tragic democratic decline is starkly exposed.
English

NOTE: There was a time when asking tough and inconvenient questions, of our netas in a press conference was ROUTINE (was famously thrown out of one in 1992) ; now it’s become so RARE that when a not so tough question is posed by a Norwegian journalist at a press briefing , it becomes a big story and leads to the bona fides and ‘agenda’ of the reporter being questioned! Yeh kahan aa gaye hum!🙏
