Yep! There is a reason Americans ignore foreign sports. We have to protect ourselves from central tyrannical Socialism which runs the rest of the world. After player soccer since I was 5 and coaching for 10 years. A former Socialist. I don’t think soccer should be a top sport at all and we should invest more heavily into American sports.

Alexi Lalas represents exactly the American bro-dude that soccer needs to be a commercial success in the U.S., but this is a problem for many long established fans who view the sport as a kind of elite, niche, and very liberal pastime.

I like to see it as a defense mechanism. We don’t watch foreign sports to protect ourselves from their socialist politics. I coached soccer for 10 years and player soccer since I was 5. It is absolutely true the rest of the world is run by their governments. Their entire lives… and it seems early Americans knew to create a whole new world because the rest of world is run by central command structures. Only loving American sports guarantees only American politics, life and culture survives. (It’s a preservation of freedom and rights.)

All of the theories of why Americans don't like soccer like other sports such as not enough constant action, they need commercial breaks, too low scoring, etc. are all wrong. There's one reason that explains it all. America just developed its sporting culture around other sports.
