Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree says it’s “regrettable” that Alberta is defying the Liberals’ gun measures, adding it’s “not optional” for police to enforce those laws.

@VoyceReason How the fuck does that train help the other 30 million Canadians? Can a plumber ride it with all his tools? Retard. Ontario and Quebec can do it themselves. They benefit...

Cons: "GAS PRICES ARE INSANE!!!" 🇨🇦: "We'll help by building high speed rail". Cons: "NOOO!!!" 🇨🇦: "OK. Let's build out our EV infrastructure and start moving away from gas dependence." Cons: "NOOOOOOOO!!!" Meanwhile, they want to cut gas taxes that pay for road improvements.

@acoyne Gimme a break. A decent Leader of the Opposition would suggest alternatives or solutions, but all he does is stomp his feet and yell No! Then he rambles on about expropriated land, as if his precious pipelines don't expropriate land. Conservatives hate change, and it shows.

@GurvSC @acoyne Try 300. The Trans Mountain pipeline expansion (TMX) was originally projected to cost $5.4 billion (CAD) when proposed by Kinder Morgan in 2013. Following the federal government's acquisition of the project in 2018, the final construction cost skyrocketed to over $34 billion

@acoyne We simply can’t afford to spend $90 billion right now and realistically it probably upwards of $100 billion. Thats $4k per taxpayer.

@acoyne It’s cowardly and wrong. It’s a much needed investment in Canada. The courageous thing would be to propose an alternative or help make sure it’s stays on budget. Saying ‘no’ to everything isn’t brave. Modern conservative would vote against the Trans-Canada Highway…

Most Conservatives don’t even know why they don’t like Mark Carney except that he plays for the team that Trudeau played for and therefore he sucks

Doesn’t Poilievre want Canada to build things faster? We could use Canadian steel for the rail, jobs, and so many economic benefits. If only we could travel in a pipeline, Conservatives would support that.

Pierre Poilievre on the Toronto–Quebec City High-Speed Rail Network: "Conservatives oppose the $90b Liberal-Alto train ... a future Conservative government will cancel this $90b boondoggle altogether."

So we have to find a private proponent for a productive asset like a pipeline, but a commuter train in the East with little to no economic benefit gets $100B dollars of Canadian's money straight up? We see you Canada. We see you.

Look, I get the argument for building high speed rail in a country like Japan where 125 million people are crammed into a country no bigger than Montana, but to build one that would only service a few million people in the Toronto Montreal corridor is clearly insane.

John Zerucelli@JZerucelli

Pierre and the Conservatives are showing their true colours again. Pierre Poilievre says he’ll cancel the Alto high-speed rail project, that’s 51,000 good-paying jobs gone. That’s not a plan. That’s walking away from the people who build this country. These are nation building jobs, paycheques for ironworkers, operating engineers, pipefitters, electricians, and labourers. The skilled trades that keep our communities growing. Canada is ready to build. Under @MarkJCarney, we’re building big and building bold, using Canadian steel, aluminum, lumber, and Canadian workers. Real projects. Good union jobs.
