@markkaplan20 kind of a dumb post speaking as a doc myself, I've been able to convince zero people to stop smoking or stop being fat but I CAN prescribe a statin and more GLP-1s, when cheaper

🧵 Your doctor obsesses over your LDL cholesterol. Here's what JAMA Cardiology says actually predicts heart disease: Diabetes → 10x risk Metabolic syndrome → 6x risk Severe obesity → 4.7x risk Smoking → 4x Hypertension → 4x Now look at what your doctor is focused on: LDL cholesterol → 1.4x Total cholesterol → 1.0x

went through a period of stress so severe that out of lack of better ways to cope, I started overdosing on l-theanine (~gram per coffee) and it completely DELETED my year and a half-long alcohol habit that had been sort of weighing on me at times I was convinced I’d turn into a full-blown alcoholic from the stress but l-theanine had other plans. incredible. couldn’t recommend it enough W-Theanine

Im sorry to say this, but if you want to work and live in Europe 🇪🇺, the only relevant foreign business language besides English and Latin is German/Dutch. >50% of intra European trade is with German/Dutch speaking countries 🇩🇪 🇦🇹 🇳🇱 🇧🇪🇨🇭 🇱🇺. In comparison: - France 7,5% 🇫🇷 - Italy 7,5% 🇮🇹 - Poland 6,5% 🇵🇱 - Spain 6% 🇪🇸 You can learn French/Italian for fun - but there is no economic usecase within Europe. And although English is totally fine - you have obviously an advantage if you’re able to communicate in German.

I abhor reformed theology more than just about anything else on Earth. Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA) is problematic because it can imply a division within the Trinity, portraying the Father as punishing the Son rather than acting in perfect unity of will and love. It frames forgiveness as dependent on satisfying divine wrath through violence instead of as a free act of mercy, and can suggest God is bound by an external standard above Himself of retributive justice. It also raises coherence issues, such as how Christ’s finite suffering could satisfy an eternal penalty, and moral concerns about punishing the innocent when guilt cannot be transferred. Biblically and historically, PSA is difficult find as well.
𝕄𝕚𝕤𝕤𝕪@yesiwetmyplants

Either Christ bore your punishment, or you will. When Jesus hung on the cross, it wasn’t an example of just love only, it was substitution. He was wounded for transgressions that weren’t His. He was crushed for sins He never committed. That’s why the cross matters. If Jesus didn’t actually take the wrath you deserve for your sins, then that wrath still stands against you. God’s justice doesn’t disappear. Sin must be punished. The only question is, was it punished in Christ, or will it be punished in you?

Yo sé que los recién conversos solemos ser más duros con estos temas porque para convertirnos al catolicismo tuvimos que estar PLENAMENTE convencidos del paso que estábamos dando. Lo de @DanannOficial es de destacar. No dijo ninguna mentira. Tenemos que dejar de fingir que la Iglesia no enseña lo que siempre ha enseñado. No estamos llamados a menos que eso. Tenemos que salvar almas, no ayudar a condenarlas.

@mageeclegg An old lady once asked me where I was from, when I said Chile her face changed... got worried, I thought to myself "oh here we go Pinochet or something". I only know one thing about Chile.... is Chile the country where several rugby players ate each other in the moutains?

If Chile 🇨🇱 stopped exporting tomorrow… The global economy would feel it immediately. 1/4 of the world’s copper. 1/3 of the world’s lithium. Both come from Chile. A long, narrow country most Americans couldn’t find on a map. Copper runs the electrical grids. Lithium powers modern batteries. Phones. Cars. Data centers. Energy storage. The entire electrified world depends on this country… Yet most people rarely think about Chile at all.

In the second century, a Christian apologist tried to explain to pagans what made Christians so different. He said: “Like others, they marry and have children, but they do not destroy their offspring.” Strange indeed. It took a few centuries before Christians acquired any political influence in the Roman empire, but when they did, they passed laws outlawing infanticide (in AD 374). Then they passed laws granting government aid to poor families so they would not be tempted to abandon them or expose them. Yet infanticide was ended only when the clergy finally persuaded parents to give up their babies at the door of the church instead — which gave rise to the first orphanages. Today Western societies are reversing course – we’re seeing an increase in abortion and infanticide. We are losing the mindset that regards children as persons made in God’s image, to be valued and cherished in their own right.

After living in Argentina 🇦🇷 and Chile 🇨🇱… I lost count of how many times someone told me: “Oh yeah, I have an EU passport too.” Mostly Italian or Spanish, but often German or French as well. The Southern Cone has deep European roots.

sports is the craziest category on @Polymarket first, we saw mayurvarma go from $0 to $4m and then all the way back to zero then came beachboy, who flipped from negative to positive pnl in a single trade now this trader, blackwall, bought dortmund to beat atalanta and grabbed $4m from just one prediction but yesterday he bet $2m on arsenal. they were leading 2-0 for most of the match, looking comfortable until wolves had other plans after going two goals down, they clawed back to 2-2, and he ended up losing $2m what do you think another mayurvarma story in the making, or the biggest sports trader in polymarket history?
