We are trying out a new to me PBL for our Genetics Unit called Disease Detectives. Today is our Entry Event to research on genetic disorders. Our driving question is “how can we inform patients of their risk of developing certain diseases?” 🤔 #Sci7L23 #SalemProud

Capitalisms robs people of time and the ability to think creatively, compassionately and critically. When people are unable to think they unfortunately rely, knowingly or unknowingly, on others, usually those in power, to think for them.

Particularly the stat on academic regression and loss of future income. Students didn’t lose knowledge. They did not regress. The only regression is in comparison to the pre-pandemic norm. I don’t know that it’s fair to keep saying this. Why can’t we just adjust our standards?

We are all in desperate need of an education revolution. We shouldn’t be trying to return to “normal schooling” because it wasn’t even working that well in the first place. As much as I agree with the theme of this article, I would debate the stats. nytimes.com/2023/02/16/opi…

I love when WCPSS comes up in my research! For a multicultural math education looking into pros/cons of high school math in middle school and some studies from WCPSS are coming up. Makes me a little homesick...

Often the trouble isn't a scarcity of "DEI" strategies and initiatives, but that most popular "DEI" strategies and initiatives pose no threat to racism or any other injustice. The trouble is the prevalence of high-optics, low-impact "DEI" stuff. Let's list some examples.

When we don't name things like this "fascism," we make fascism more permissible. Our students deserve better than inhumanity always and forever.

Im upset. Unfortunately this feeling isn’t new. I have thoughts.. hopes.. ideas… but the way things are make me feel like the best idea doesn’t matter. Because if they wanted to make things better.. safer… They would.

Whether this is normalizing postpartum bodies or Rhi Rhi is making a pregnancy announcement can we take a moment to recognize how women & mommies are defying limiting stereotypes daily. She DID that!!!

I want to encourage people who are slowly but surely changing systems. You may not see immediate fruit, but know that seeds are being planted. They will grow in due season. You have to believe that your work is not in vain, otherwise, why would you do what you do?
