ORANGE COUNTY TRAFFIC ALERT: On-ramp to I-4 Eastbound from eastbound Maitland Boulevard is currently shut down due to an overturned semi tractor-trailer. Please avoid the area and use an alternate route.

Service over self. Yesterday evening, Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith spoke about the responsibility that comes with wearing the badge - and the sacrifice it can require. He honored local law enforcement killed in the line of duty, including OPD Lieutenant Debra Clayton, whose commitment to serving others continues to leave a lasting impact. "For Debra, service was not simply a profession - it was her identity. During her 17 years with OPD, Debra invested heavily in our community. She self-initiated stop the violence campaigns, she took time out of her personal life to speak with residents and strengthen their trust in the police... and she loved to mentor young people in need of guidance." Tragically, on January 9th, 2017, Lt. Clayton was shot when she encountered a wanted murder suspect in the parking lot of an Orlando Walmart. She never made it home. At OPD, we strive every day to honor those, like Lt. Clayton, who laid down their lives to protect this community. We owe it to them to keep their legacies alive by serving with OPD's core values of courage, pride, and commitment.
