Closely watching tropical development in #ArabianSea around #NewYear2024 👀🌧️ Still early days, but depending on interactions with the Jet, will determine if we have a wet start to the new year or not. Strong MJO pulse, high upper level divergence aided by south shifted #JetStream and SST are quite favourable. We've had model concensus for about a week now, for a Depression or stronger system to form around #Maldives region. Still too early to say if we will have a #Cyclone but will definitely be a rare event.

#Monsoon2023 has further withdrawn from west MP, entire #Gujarat, some parts of central MP. Further withdrawal from remaining MP, parts of #Vidarbha possible until the weekend. However, as below image shows building anticyclone over S Guj / N Maharashtra by the 8th will trap moisture at 850 hpa, preventing withdrawal from #konkan and #Mumbai until next week.

#Monsoon2023 has further withdrawn from entire Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch today October 2nd clearly visible in water vapour satellite imagery. Next in line west MP, #Gujarat region by Oct 4. While #MumbaiRains will stop now, anticyclone setting up over Gujarat by the end of this week will trigger easterlies over Maharashtra which will keep moisture present over konkan and #Mumbai until at least Oct 8th.

2 LPAs in Arabian Sea & BOB!! ⚠️ Models indicate after a shear zone/trough which will develop parallel to East India coastline for next 36-48 hours, it will move towards South from Sept 26-27, and give rise to 2 new LPAs by September end, And thus we'll witness a lot of #MumbaiRains by Sept end and First week of October. Probability for this has crossed 50% now, it is likely for this formation to happen, as per my experience as favourable conditions are high during that timeline. Kerala, Karnataka coast will get a lot of rain due to this formation of this LPA. #TamilNadu will also get good rain during this timeframe. #Mumbai and #Konkan coast along with #Gujarat, will be highly affected by this. Will give rain accumulation in some days, as we get proper estimation for the trajectory of LPAs and their intensities.
