New house has a large detached garage. So naturally I’m turning it into my next home gym. Just finished up the painting. Flooring next!

If you’re a home gym enthusiast and appreciate fine machined parts. These plates are a dream. Price isn’t as bad as you’d think. 320 lb set is $1,000.

@BarnsWallisMD I try and go to my local Ace over Home Depot whenever I can. I love Home Depot but some of the stores have become unbearable.

I've come to really appreciate smaller hardware stores. Home Depot & Menards are always busy and poorly staffed and the experience leaves me stressed & annoyed. Ace & True-Value are much less chaotic and are staffed with sharp young guys, making for a much better experience.

Shoutin it from the rooftops again. The woman you marry will be the single greatest business decision you ever make (or worst if you’re an idiot). Reminds me of that Rogan video: “I like a gal who can help you move a couch.” My house wouldn’t be nearly where it’s at without my wife’s help.

My wife and I demo’d the deck today in prep to either re-deck it or do a patio. My wife is a beast. She’s half my size and has helped with just about every home project since we bought our first house. Never complains. Fun fact. We bought our home in 2019 and spent 10 months of nights and weekends renovating every square inch of the interior ourselves. I received a Masters from YouTube University that year and didn’t hire a single contractor. We took a 2 week break halfway through the renovation to get married, did a quick honeymoon, and were right back to it. That was one of the most challenging years of my life. Growing a young business figuring everything out for the first time and learning everything I could about working on houses. I’m super proud of that year but I still get the itch to do major DIY projects and 10 years later my body has a hard time keeping up. Hence the back brace during my Jersey Mike’s break. Which was only halfway through deck demo and I was absolutely cooked. Anyway, should we go budget friendly and re-deck it or get quotes for a stone patio and pergola?

Out golfing with buddies today and had a thought. If I was filthy rich… maybe it’s a pricier course, nicer car in the parking lot, bigger house to go home to, fancy restaurant tonight. But the laughs would sound the same. The sun still hits your face. Bellies full. Cigar lit, fresh air, Good people around you. Real peace you know, The kind money can’t even buy. A lot of people are chasing upgrades to a life they already have. Truth is, most of us are living better than kings used to. No excuse to coast tho, If anything, more reason to be grateful… and keep pushing.

Should I start a content series breaking down driving range deals? I feel like Twitter, maybe Reddit too, would love this style of content…

@TannerBuilds @cashrulesNC This it pretty much the reason most small reno companies are successful. The owner/ops guy is extremely good at figuring things out, paying attention to details and getting creative. You’re a beast @TannerBuilds

This is how I’m making this 1980 home more modern for a buyer. Using another bedroom to make a primary closet.

Just got a quote for a new garage at our lake house. $70,000. Includes: Foundation. 24x30 garage. Loft area upstairs with full plumbing. Earth leveling. Running utilities, like power, water, and sewer. This is good, terrible, or about right?

What do you guys think about PadSplit? Supposedly you can rent a room for $900 x 4 rooms so that’s $3600 X 2 so that’s $7200 on a duplex of 4 beds each unit. Would you do this ? Don’t know how much PadSplit would take home plus any cleaning, cameras in common areas, fridge drama and Don’t know if this is worth it. I know someone who was going to do this on 12 duplexes and 92 doors all for PadSplit but after doing just one duplex they backed out of that business model real quick. Long term rental wins again Anyone who has done PadSplit care to share why this business model didn’t work for you ? High turnover I’m sure PadSplit fee Management fee Vacancy fee Repair fees Drama fee

My stihl trimmer is a beast but depends what you’re using it for. Electric is simple and easy. Pressure washer, again, depends on use case, I’m pro gas machine. I own a Dewalt. Shop vac. Literally just buy whatever size works for you besides ryobi. I’ve never had one of these really die without a lot of abuse.

Need some blue collar advice. Preparing for THREE large purchases in the coming weeks… 1. Weed Wacker/Trimmer 2. Pressure Washer 3. Shop Vac Criteria: long lasting, quality, doesn’t break the bank. Specific advice/suggestions on brands you really like…etc. Open mind.

@TannerBuilds @gvtcontractor Absolute facts. Claude and I will fix my entire house. My friends; not a single ounce of this kind of thing. Most of my peers are the “I just want it done and can’t be bothered”.
