@BarnsWallisMD I try and go to my local Ace over Home Depot whenever I can. I love Home Depot but some of the stores have become unbearable.

My wife and I demo’d the deck today in prep to either re-deck it or do a patio.
My wife is a beast. She’s half my size and has helped with just about every home project since we bought our first house.
Never complains.
Fun fact. We bought our home in 2019 and spent 10 months of nights and weekends renovating every square inch of the interior ourselves.
I received a Masters from YouTube University that year and didn’t hire a single contractor.
We took a 2 week break halfway through the renovation to get married, did a quick honeymoon, and were right back to it.
That was one of the most challenging years of my life. Growing a young business figuring everything out for the first time and learning everything I could about working on houses.
I’m super proud of that year but I still get the itch to do major DIY projects and 10 years later my body has a hard time keeping up.
Hence the back brace during my Jersey Mike’s break. Which was only halfway through deck demo and I was absolutely cooked.
Anyway, should we go budget friendly and re-deck it or get quotes for a stone patio and pergola?

Out golfing with buddies today and had a thought.
If I was filthy rich… maybe it’s a pricier course, nicer car in the parking lot, bigger house to go home to, fancy restaurant tonight.
But the laughs would sound the same. The sun still hits your face. Bellies full. Cigar lit, fresh air, Good people around you. Real peace you know, The kind money can’t even buy.
A lot of people are chasing upgrades to a life they already have.
Truth is, most of us are living better than kings used to.
No excuse to coast tho, If anything, more reason to be grateful… and keep pushing.

@thecruice Again you can’t haul a skid steer or dump trailer with a damn crv 😂
English

The difference in resi and heavy, I closed $3mm in my first 6 months driving a 2014 crv.

Drove on a metal blade at Lowe’s and couldn’t patch tire. I can’t have a mismatched tire. Spent $1400 on new tires. I used to dread this but when you’re going to quote 80k in jobs for the day you need those tires and look presentable. Big picture.

@CoachDanGo 42 here.
Best advice I can give:
Fall in love, have kids, and pour into a family.
Nothing is more fulfililng. Zero.

@TannerBuilds @cashrulesNC This it pretty much the reason most small reno companies are successful. The owner/ops guy is extremely good at figuring things out, paying attention to details and getting creative. You’re a beast @TannerBuilds
English

@cashrulesNC I do it all on site 🤑 I figure out what is and what’s not load bearing and go to town
English

@SteveOnSpeed I’m at like $80k just for structure before loft area, utilities and sitework on the low end. Tbh I’d get another quote.

I’m addicted to the sport of triathlons. Did my first one at 12 years old. I’d still take being a scratch golfer all day long. I will probably do a full Ironman next year anyways.
BTG@BowTied_Golfer
Might be late to this one but it’s the easiest hypothetical of all time right? Scratch or even a lifetime 2 index clears by a mile

@FikseJake So mainly 90% drama
Crazy shit
People who get into this business model love the drama business then but it prints money
English

What do you guys think about PadSplit?
Supposedly you can rent a room for $900 x 4 rooms so that’s $3600 X 2 so that’s $7200 on a duplex of 4 beds each unit.
Would you do this ?
Don’t know how much PadSplit would take home plus any cleaning, cameras in common areas, fridge drama and
Don’t know if this is worth it.
I know someone who was going to do this on 12 duplexes and 92 doors all for PadSplit but after doing just one duplex they backed out of that business model real quick.
Long term rental wins again
Anyone who has done PadSplit care to share why this business model didn’t work for you ?
High turnover I’m sure
PadSplit fee
Management fee
Vacancy fee
Repair fees
Drama fee

My stihl trimmer is a beast but depends what you’re using it for. Electric is simple and easy. Pressure washer, again, depends on use case, I’m pro gas machine. I own a Dewalt. Shop vac. Literally just buy whatever size works for you besides ryobi. I’ve never had one of these really die without a lot of abuse.
English

@TannerBuilds @gvtcontractor Absolute facts. Claude and I will fix my entire house. My friends; not a single ounce of this kind of thing. Most of my peers are the “I just want it done and can’t be bothered”.
English

@gvtcontractor Haha he is an exception not the norm. Most do not want to bother with it at all.
