Actual missed opportunity from Nintendo to not make BOTW a new IP. There’s almost no Zelda DNA in the game. No OST, no structure, no story, full voice acting, the main character costume isn’t Link’s. Change the name of the map and the two heroes and there’s nothing of Zelda left.

It’s a tough one to remedy but one of my suggestions to appeal to a younger audience would be putting Final Fantasy characters everywhere. Square have been very stingy with licensing out their characters, although it is improving with things like MTG. But put FF characters in Fortnite, allow other companies to make FF figures, make a FF7 anime etc. Many young people only know Cloud from Smash Bros. I think they should make the characters more visible to a wider audience IMO.

There's an old interview where Herbert talks about how he loved swash buckling adventure stories as a kid. So it was important to him that Dune has cool sword fights that kids would enjoy reenacting. That's a crucial part of the appeal of Dune.
