The Kwa Ngendu Affordable Housing Project (AHP) in Kitui is a medium-density development comprising 166 housing units, designed to respond to the town's evolving character. As Kitui positions itself as an emerging industrial hub, it is experiencing a growing influx of population, placing increasing pressure on available housing. This project is therefore a deliberate intervention aimed at easing that demand by delivering safe, decent and affordable homes within a planned urban setting. The development integrates essential amenities that enhance both functionality and quality of life. It includes six ground-floor shops to support small-scale commerce within the estate, alongside 54 parking spaces to ensure order and convenience. Foundational infrastructure is already in place, with a borehole securing reliable water supply, a perimeter chain-link fence enhancing security and cabro-paved driveways improving accessibility and internal circulation. The project is also making a tangible economic contribution to the local community. The construction phase alone has engaged youth and artisans drawn from the Kitui vicinity, injecting income into households, building technical skills and stimulating the local economy through sustained employment opportunities. The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration plays a critical collaborative and facilitative role by ensuring a stable and secure environment for construction, supporting local administration structures and enhancing community engagement.

Landed in Rome, Italy. I will be meeting President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and holding discussions with them. This visit will focus on how to boost India-Italy cooperation, especially focusing on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). The Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029 will also be reviewed. The visit further delivered several MoUs, including in trade to expand market access & boost bilateral commerce; transport to improve cargo & logistics connectivity; mining to create jobs through investment & value addition; & space technology to support agriculture & enhance climate & disaster monitoring through satellite technology. Kenya is exploring the expansion of space knowledge and capabilities to strengthen accurate data collection, enhance research, and support informed national planning and development. Visited Ghalam LLP, a company based in Astana, Kazakhstan, dedicated to advancing spacecraft development and component manufacturing. Their remarkable innovation and technical expertise reflects the growing opportunities within the global space industry. Kenya is keen to learn from their rich experience and explore avenues of collaboration that will help elevate our young space programme in Malindi to the next level.
