Hedgewar, met Italian dictator Benito Mussolini in Rome on March 19, 1931, to study fascist youth organizations. Deeply impressed by Mussolini's efforts to militarize Italian society, Moonje sought to apply similar training methods in India. They even copied the Nazi khakhi chaddi here. His name is Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi. He was born in Almora, Uttarakhand, in 1954. He was the first person in his family in seven generations to join the armed forces. He joined the Indian Navy in 1972. Over four decades, he commanded guided missile corvettes, destroyers and the aircraft carrier INS Viraat. He was awarded the PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM and VSM. On August 31, 2012, he became the 21st Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy. During his tenure, the Navy suffered a series of accidents. In August 2013, the submarine INS Sindhurakshak caught fire and sank in Mumbai harbour. Eighteen sailors were killed. On February 26, 2014, INS Sindhuratna suffered a fire at sea. Seven sailors were injured. Two officers went missing. That same day, he submitted his resignation. The Defence Ministry announced taking moral responsibility for the accidents and incidents which have taken place during the past few months the Chief of Naval Staff Admiral DK Joshi resigned. The government accepted the resignation with immediate effect. He had been due to serve until August 2015. He left 18 months early. He became the first Chief of Naval Staff in Indian history to resign. The first military service chief in independent India to step down for professional lapses within his service. He did not blame his subordinates. He did not dispute the facts. He did not wait to be removed. In October 2017, the Government of India appointed him as the Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He continues to serve in that role today. In 2020, he donated all his gallantry award annuities to the Uttarakhand War Memorial Trust. A man who held himself accountable when no one forced him to. Still serving India in a different uniform.
