Both suffered severe internal injuries and required major surgeries. One had part of her intestine removed, while the other underwent a hysterectomy due to the extent of her injuries. One nurse’s family was forced to pay a large sum to an intelligence officer to secure her release, and she was made to sign statements that concealed the abuse and blamed “rioters.” This is far from an isolated incident in Iran. Security forces are known to use rape as a form of torture. Sexual violence is used to suppress dissent. That’s how evil the regime in Iran truly is.
