I condemn in the strongest terms the overnight Iranian strike on a Qatari gas facility. We are working towards a swift resolution to the situation in the Middle East, in the best interests of the British people – because there is no question that ending the war is the quickest way to reduce the cost of living.

🇬🇧🇵🇱 🇳🇱The Mosquito That Never Returned from Operation Market Garden 🇳🇱🇵🇱🇬🇧 On 18 September 1944, while returning from Arnhem in support of Operation Market Garden, a tragic mid-air collision claimed the lives of two Polish airmen from 307 Squadron. Mosquito HK194 (EW-L), piloted by Fl/Lt. Stanisław Roman Madej, aged 27, with navigator F/O. Józef Stanisław Gasecki ,aged 25, overtook Mosquito HK228, piloted by British crew Fl/Lt William John Griffiths and Fl/Lt George John Lane, from below and behind. HK228 was flying straight and level at about 1,200 ft when HK194 struck its underside. HK194 was destroyed near Withcall Railway Station, Lincolnshire, killing both Polish airmen, while HK228, though badly damaged, was crash-landed safely at RAF Sturgate moments before it exploded, allowing the British crew to escape. A moving memorial was unveiled at the crash site on 17 September 2016 by the 307 Squadron Project, with relatives of the crew in attendance. Both airmen now rest side by side at Newark-upon-Trent Cemetery: • Fl/Lt. Stanisław Roman Madej – Section K, Grave 326 • F/O. Józef Stanisław Gasecki – Section L, Grave 326 Lest We Forget Remember. No, Poland did not pay Britain for all the materials provided during World War II. According to a 1946 agreement between the UK and the Polish Provisional Government of National Unity, Britain waived a debt of £73 million that had accrued for war materials, equipment, supplies, and related costs for the Polish Armed Forces in the West. This waiver was part of post-war financial settlements. However, Poland did agree to partial payments for other wartime costs related to civil administration, welfare, and educational services (originally advanced at around £32 million by the UK), settling for an immediate £3 million payment in gold plus £10 million over 15 years. An additional £47.5 million for salaries and pay up to July 1945 was left unresolved in the agreement, with the UK reserving the right to revisit it, but records indicate it was never fully pursued and eventually dropped from accounts by the mid-1980s.
