1 out of 10 Blue Angel pilots die in a crash. Maybe stimming in a board room pretending real hard to fly a plane is a stupid way to practice.

@BuzzPatterson This part trips me out. Th preparation that goes into this.
English

Total number of Blue Angel pilots since their inception in 1946 - 229
Total number killed in practice/performance since 1946 - 26
So her original statement SEEMS correct until you dig in a bit. NATOPS came out in 1961. Deaths since NATOPS came out - 17
Let's further refine. Deaths by decade/platform, post NATOPS:
1960s (Post-1961) - 5 (F-11A Tiger)
1970s - 4 (F-4J Phantom II)
1980s - 3 (A-4F Skyhawk II)
1990s - 2 (F/A-18 Hornet)
2000s - 2 (F/A-18 Hornet)
2010s - 1 (F/A-18 Hornet)
2020s - 0 (F/A-18 Super Hornet)
Saying "1 in 10 Blues gets killed" is disingenuous as it lumps in the pre-NATOPS era. That's like including airline crash data today from pre-1960.
Lumping in even the Tiger/Phantom/Skyhawk is a bit disingenuous as none of those were modern aircraft as we define them (not fly-by-wire, etc.). That's like including auto crash test statistics today from the pre-air bag days.
In sum:
Deaths in the first 46 years of the Blues - 21
Deaths in the last 30 years of the Blues - 5
Just so you know, @TheWapplehouse, virtually every highly skilled air show pilot, military and civilian, performs this practice technique because their performance is part instinct, part technique, and part muscle memory. Things are happening so fast you don't have time to think. You have time to execute and respond to visual queues only. The more you commit to muscle memory, the less you have to think. THIS is how you maximize that muscle memory.
I was going to end this with a dig at Kristi, but that would be unkind. No reason to dog pile. Just hoping I can offer a little perspective on what you're seeing, Kristi.

The 37 did hit hard, but odds are you’d lose that bet. The Soviets loved the “Kobra” for anti-fighter work. They even suggested modifications to Bell for beefing up the airframe to withstand all the G they were putting on it. Down low it was the equal of the 109 and 190. Ospreys’ “P-39 Airacobra Aces of World War 2” is a good introduction to the Soviet experience with the P-39.

English

@Flyer_Jeff @CenTexLakeRat @RSE_VB Well, there’s that too. I’d wager that most of those victories were against bombers. That big cannon was good at ripping them apart. And tanks.

The Brewster Buffalo.

Delete one aircraft from history.

@CenTexLakeRat @RSE_VB Aircobra had its fans. The Russians used them for anti-tank air.
English

@CenTexLakeRat @RSE_VB Major Sorotin and his 26 kills (he wasn’t even the high P-39 scorer) would like a word…

English

@iqj8DSNKPVowvFJ I love the Buffalo! Those are very well made!

@kotakot07088271 Try a Catholic Church. There’ll be plenty of seats in the front!😉
That’s a bit of a joke, because Catholics tend to sit in the back or middle of the church if they can.
But seriously, go to Mass, sit in the back where you can just observe, and see what you think.
English

@kmjoadwth Good luck with the decals! If it works, tell us how you did it- I have the same kit!!

You and a lot of other people are saying this. The problem is that such sentiment ignores reality.
The reality is that the system has finite resources (like gates, crew duty time, fuel, airport capacity, etc) and is vulnerable to disruption from weather etc.
I promise you that they didn’t want to be sitting on a taxiway for hours, but there probably weren’t a lot of options available.
Ironically, this guy disrupting the flight caused additional delays- not just for the people on his flight but for people on other flights, too.
English

@Combat_learjet None of this was handled well. There is no reason to sit on a tarmac for hours.
English

@RepShriThanedar I wonder if you know that abortion and slavery are based on the same belief?
English

My favorite kind of abortion is the kind that's safe, legal, accessible, and none of your damn business to regulate.
And no amount of fearmongering by describing what goes on to a half-ounce fetus with no consciousness, self-awareness, or feeling of pain is going to change that.
Brandon Gill@realBrandonGill
Which abortion is your favorite? The one where the unborn baby's body is crush and sucked out with a hose or the one where the baby is cut apart with a knife? Please enlighten us.

That’s the old Heller kit! The other is the Matchbox.
I noticed that I had several ME-262 in 1/72 and decided it would be fun to build ALL of the mainstream ME-262 in that scale! I still need to pick up the two Revell kits and the new Arma kit.
If you want a comparison of 1/72 ME-262 kits, I’m the guy to ask!😆

@LineroTifon You forgot to mention that the photo was taken from a Canberra.
