Today‘s international rail farce continues with the 1651 @eurostar Brussels-London. Inbound set arrived late but then E* swapped the set, requiring new boarding passes. Still in Brussels, 70min late. I bet we’re less than 1h late into SPI to avoid those pesky delay refunds though

I’m on this train tonight and we only received notice yesterday that it will be diverted in NL and arriving in Brussels 90min later than planned. Good job I didn’t book a tight @Eurostar connection, but I know others who did and now have to pay £££ for new tkts or flights.

@ElmervBuuren @Eurostar It’s totally unacceptable for you and for your passengers. Cutoff point for planned engineering works should be 12 weeks minimum. That said, I really enjoyed my first journey with @EuropeanSlpr last night. Staff were excellent. Will definitely be travelling with you again!

Swiss government has put a stop to the proposal for Zurich-Rome/Barcelona night trains, saying that it doesn‘t want to spend a fortune subsidising them every year. Any other takers?

@philatrail @TheFactCompiler They got lots of over-excited, rose-tinted articles in the Tory press about reopening all those country branch lines from the ‘good old days’. In that sense, RYR delivered everything Shapps intended it to.
