@ForTheLifeofTr1 @WassonWatch Paul (Sha’ul) was directly trained by Gamaliel, so he knew what he was talking about in terms of halacha. There’s no monolithic views on these things for Christians, just as Judaism has different opinions.

I never quite know how to feel about this. It is really good to see people learning about God's lessons, but very strange to see an adaption of a family's history into some forgein tale.
Wasson Watch Co.@WassonWatch

Today is Passover. We are in Exodus for our family Bible reading, and literally read about Passover yesterday. It is both a beautiful and terrible story. Pharaoh hardened his heart and refused to let God's people (the Hebrews) go. God not only warned him, but gave him tangible consequences for his refusal 9 times in the forms of plagues before escalating to the killing of the firstborns. Of course, God gave a way out. He always does. He said that anyone who put the blood of a sacrificial lamb on their doorposts would be spared. Skeptics and scoffers complain that this is not just, that a "good" God would not kill people for the "arbitrary" decision not to put some blood on their doorposts. But this is a backwards view of God and our relationship with him. You see, God is the creator, and he sets the standard. It is not for us, the creation to question or judge him. It is for us to humbly recognize that we are sinners, wholly undeserving of his grace, love, or mercy. It is in that context that God has given us a path to salvation. If we reject it, it's on us. The beauty of Passover is God used it to paint a picture of what he would do in the future. The sacrificial lamb was a picture of Jesus himself. The blood on the doorposts was a picture of Jesus' blood, shed on the cross for us. The deaths of the firstborns were the deaths we all deserve. Just as God's Spirit "passed over" the houses marked with the blood, he passes over those of us marked with the blood of Jesus. The Exodus of God's people from Egypt came at a great cost, as does our Salvation in Christ. Do you reject it? Or will you accept that which you could never earn? SOLI DEO GLORIA

@arinohem You might argue "that's what wrong with yeshivos! That's the reason people go otd!" But I'm not confident that openly taking the opposite route will yield better results on net.

@MarbledWell7 @WassonWatch Who doesn't listen to Paul? Paul? NonJews can both eat as much leavened bread and don't have to eat any Lamb or offer one during Pesach. Non Jews may not human sacrifice. Interesting that you disagree with the Christians who believed last supper was Passover meal.

Yes, it’s a good line of questioning and shows they don’t actually listen to Paul’s teachings either: “Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know the saying, “It takes only a little hametz to leaven a whole batch of dough?” Get rid of the old hametz, so that you can be a new batch of dough, because in reality you are unleavened. For our Pesach lamb, the Messiah, has been sacrificed. So let us celebrate the Seder not with leftover hametz, the hametz of wickedness and evil, but with the matzah of purity and truth.” 1 Corinthians (1 Co) 5:6-8 CJB bible.com/bible/1275/1co…

@MarbledWell7 @WassonWatch Yeah, this what I'm talking about, very strange. As in, Jews recall families' exit from Egypt and gratitude to God for it. And someone else comes along and explains they really should be celebrating their nations god, which is really their God, not celebrate God's Exodus. Weird

This is what Scripture says: “So now Adonai says — he formed me in the womb to be his servant, to bring Ya‘akov back to him, to have Isra’el gathered to him, so that I will be honored in the sight of Adonai, my God having become my strength — he has said, “It is not enough that you are merely my servant to raise up the tribes of Ya‘akov and restore the offspring of Isra’el. I will also make you a light to the nations, so my salvation can spread to the ends of the earth.” Yesha 'yahu (Isa) 49:5-6

@MarbledWell7 @WassonWatch That may be true (though woman who called herself dog eating at table story may indicate otherwise) But Paul said recruit whomever. And Christianity claims that it is specifically not seed/ descendants /family of Israel. Why the strange shame over not being Jews? Why pretend?

Friend, there were no such thing as Christians in existence when Yeshua (Jesus) died and rose again, all right around Jerusalem. All of his followers were Jewish, practiced Judaism faithfully, and viewed his death and resurrection in accordance with messianic prophecies of the Tanakh, such as: “We all, like sheep, went astray; we turned, each one, to his own way; yet Adonai laid on him the guilt of all of us. Though mistreated, he was submissive — he did not open his mouth. Like a lamb led to be slaughtered, like a sheep silent before its shearers, he did not open his mouth. After forcible arrest and sentencing, he was taken away; and none of his generation protested his being cut off from the land of the living for the crimes of my people, who deserved the punishment themselves. He was given a grave among the wicked; in his death he was with a rich man. Although he had done no violence and had said nothing deceptive, yet it pleased Adonai to crush him with illness, to see if he would present himself as a guilt offering. If he does, he will see his offspring; and he will prolong his days; and at his hand Adonai’s desire will be accomplished. After this ordeal, he will see satisfaction. “By his knowing [pain and sacrifice], my righteous servant makes many righteous; it is for their sins that he suffers.” Yesha 'yahu (Isa) 53:6-11 “and I will pour out on the house of David and on those living in Yerushalayim a spirit of grace and prayer; and they will look to me, whom they pierced.” They will mourn for him as one mourns for an only son; they will be in bitterness on his behalf like the bitterness for a firstborn son.” Z'kharyah (Zec) 12:10 And there are many others.

@MarbledWell7 @WassonWatch That's Christian teachings, which is trying to graft onto family celebrations they are not part of. Kinda like celebrating your brothers birthday and not your own. Or Americans pretending they are Britain. (Which would be much closer to reality) Just strange, good intention

@ForTheLifeofTr1 @WassonWatch If you were born on July 4th, it would still be your birthday. So, two things can be true at the same time. Also, the Tanakh is replete with prophecies about the suffering servant (mashiach ben yosef).

@shipwreckedcrew I think they needs to be a reckoning and issuance of notices of incorrect citizen status to all illegals who have been here. Perhaps you give them legal status like a green card that they can stay here where they should not have any right to vote.

I don't disagree -- this might end up requiring a constitutional amendment. But the issue is now joined, and both sides have staked out not just their legal views, but their political views. I'm happy to have amending the 14th to exclude predatory immigration from the scope of citizenship. That puts the advocates of birthright citizenship in the Amendment process in the position of defending Chinese birther tourism, which will be the poster child for the Amendment effort. That is going to be an 80-20 issue, as the pure "Open Borders" crowd is not nearly so big as they think it is.
Cory@Cory38702438622

@shipwreckedcrew Ship, you are cornered by the Amendment. Yes, Section 5 has the directive to pass legislation “to enforce” the Amendment; but that is no foundation to change the clear language of the Amendment. I mean - what valid legislation could even modify the birth citizenship directive?

@Hkurkavan @0xdasha I imagine that he would be, it's a very well-known process. As long as it's probably just being said shorthand that makes it sound different. There's a difference between purchase and buyback and retroactive revocation of sale. But it's a technical discussion.

fun fact: jewish law forbids owning chametz (bread etc) during passover to comply, most jews authorize a rabbi to sell all their chametz to a non-jew in a real, binding legal contract, but time is given to discuss the price as soon as passover ends, the transaction is canceled ✨

@JTAlexander_ Exercising provides no boost to health. How did they measure this? Because I've never see such joy as parents and grandparents marrying off their sons and daughters. Which is a diffrent sort of Happiness. Also I'm not sure if they're aware happy people are in fact born.

So apparently the study determined on measures that on the whole Happy, well adjusted people have kids, and measures employed did not measure boost. Sure, but by these measures you could find that healthy people exercise and exercise does no t boost health.

@WassonWatch I don't mean it as an insult, it is just strange to me that the story is being made into some other people's tale. It would be like Israel claiming the July 4 was about Bibi. Sure there is Biblical inspiration for "declaring liberty across the land" but its another people's story

@ForTheLifeofTr1 Foreign? Jesus was (and is) Jewish. He lives in Galilee and Judea. He is the Jewish Messiah. His disciples and writers of the New Testament were Jewish. What do you mean, foreign?
