No they weren’t lied to and they have no choice, unless they want to give two fingers to the UN, like the U.S. is doing. The U.K. is doing the right thing with Chagos but it isn’t going far enough to correct the historic injustices and racism. Of course, we know you’re quite comfortable with racism, antisemitism, etc.

The Americans have woken up to the fact that they were lied to. They were told that the UK had no choice but to surrender the Chagos Islands. This was simply not true, and now they are angry with us.

Our position on Greenland is very clear – it is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and its future is a matter for the Greenlanders and the Danes. We have also made clear that Arctic Security matters for the whole of NATO and allies should all do more together to address the threat from Russia across different parts of the Arctic. Applying tariffs on allies for pursuing the collective security of NATO allies is completely wrong. We will of course be pursuing this directly with the US administration.
