Comments about the Holy Fire: Look up videos of people whose hair ignites near instantly from a single candle. Yet, there are videos of holy fire where this does not occur after prolonged exposure to multiple candles at once. What's the natural explanation?

Abortion up to birth is monstrous. It is a symptom of a society that has utterly given up on itself. The Government has just voted to decriminalise it. Restore Britain will reverse that.

I feel so sad that a pregnant woman can now take an abortion pill and stop the heart of a 35-week gestation baby. Most people think that’s murder. Too many MPs and Lords are fine with it. Most EU countries have an abortion limit of 12 weeks. Britain is in moral decline.
David Frost@DavidGHFrost

I voted last night against the prospect of a new law allowing self-administered abortion up to birth. Sadly we failed to win the votes against this abhorrent practice, which will now become law shortly. It is deeply shameful that our country has gone down this awful road. Thank you to @DavidAltonHL and so many other colleagues who led this fight. This particular battle may be over (for now) but the campaign continues.

The House of Lords has just voted to allow abortion up to birth. We sacrifice our children…I no longer recognise this nation as my home. I am an exile… but then I guess that is the reality of being a follower of Christ. Lord have mercy! Genuinely ashamed at what we have become.

@jaredef If you view the western rite as one of those variations then you also view all Catholic and much Anglican liturgy as identical with variations and therefore your argument fails.

The most stunning thing to me about Orthodoxy that no sect or denomination can claim is that it is liturgically identical, even in its variations, across all time and space. It’s simply the only ecumenical Faith. You and six friends could awake from a sleep of millennia and go back to church just to follow along irrespective of country or tongue.

Now there is a move to decriminalise abortion, effectively allowing it up to birth. Google it. It's not an easy read. It is the physical destruction of a baby. This horror passed the Commons after 46 minutes of debate. The Lords must stop it. It is a line the UK must not cross.

Asked about the words of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, who during a briefing went so far as to quote Psalm 144 to invoke a divine blessing on the ongoing attack, Cardinal Pizzaballa replied that “as believers we must do everything possible not to leave the discourse to them. We need to say that no, there are no new crusades. If God is present in this war, He is among those who are dying, who are suffering, who are in pain, who are oppressed in various ways”— Amen!! asianews.it/news-en/Cardin…

Reports from Rome suggest that the first encyclical of Pope Leo XIV is approaching publication and could appear shortly after Easter, just weeks before the first anniversary of his election to the papacy. The document, widely reported to carry the working title Magnifica Humanitas (“Magnificent Humanity”), is expected to address the ethical challenges posed by artificial intelligence and the profound consequences it may have for human work, social relations and the dignity of the person. According to reporting by the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the encyclical is currently in the final stages of revision. If confirmed, it would be the first major magisterial text issued by the Pontiff since his election on 8 May last year. The focus on artificial intelligence would place the Church directly within one of the most urgent debates of the present age. The encyclical is expected to consider the consequences of rapid technological transformation, particularly the risks it may pose to employment and to the fabric of human relationships. thecatholicherald.com/article/report…

What is the moral difference between this and killing the baby 19 days earlier? This is an absolutely horrific and tragic case but so is a full term baby being killed as it is due to be born. Mother charged with murder of 18-day-old baby bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@BattleTier_ @C2Antiquity Sure, but there is a relationship between all of us on a lay level. It's striking that some who believe EO is the true church are quicker to mock those that they view outside of it, than to try to reach out in love to help them board the ark of salvation.

@FormedFromSoil @C2Antiquity I do get what you mean though, some stuff can make the situation worse in the online sphere, but in terms of repairing a schism, Its up to the bishops to handle that. I think schism with OO should be looked at on a group by group basis and see who's willing to come to the table

@FormedFromSoil @C2Antiquity They always point you toward the church or going to church to experience the liturgy themselves. Sure u can say the apologetics can get hostile but it still provokes curiosity for the people to actually go visit. Which a lot of inquirers to catechumens have testified to.
