@NASAMoonBase @blueorigin @NASAAdmin @astrobotic @astrolab We have awarded @LunarOutpostInc with a lunar terrain vehicle award. Their Pegasus rover is capable of manual, autonomous, or teleoperated driving at speeds more than 9 mph. Early surface mobility will help us create an enduring presence on the Moon.

Today, NASA selected @LunarOutpostInc to build and operate our Pegasus human-rated Lunar Terrain Vehicle, the successor to the LRV. It feels like my whole career has been building to this moment. In undergrad, I led the University of Missouri Hydrogen Car Team. A tough challenge to design and build a high-tech hydrogen fuel cell car in just 17 months for one driver to pilot in an endurance race. At MIT, I studied spacesuit development with Dava Newman and Prof. Jeffrey Hoffman. My time as an EMT for the MIT Ambulance was its own sort of intro to mission ops. For my Ph.D., I helped develop the MOXIE instrument for the Perseverance rover, an instrument I later had the honor of operating on mission on Mars. While at MIT, I also explored entrepreneurship, co-founding Raptor Maps and mentoring 60+ student teams through MIT’s Sandbox Innovation Fund. It all came together at Lunar Outpost: spacesuits, vehicle engineering, science, and entrepreneurship. Building the machine that makes the machine. I am deeply honored that NASA selected our team to build this vehicle. Honored to serve our country by helping astronauts explore the Moon and begin America’s Moon Base. And honored to be doing it alongside my co-founders Justin, Julian, AJ and the amazing team we have built at Lunar Outpost There is a lot of exciting work ahead: hiring, designing, manufacturing, operating. But today, I am taking a moment to celebrate this milestone and reflect on what it means for the future of civilization.
