Ieri è morta la dignità della politica e dell'informazione veneziana. Un presidente di fondazione che si inventa che una struttura sostenuta anche da fondi pubblici e guidata da nomine politiche sia uno spazio “privato”, dove decidere chi può parlare e chi no. Un direttore che arriva a sostenere che chi si candida, chi dedica tempo ed energie alla vita pubblica e vuole confrontarsi con i cittadini lo faccia soltanto “per ego”. E due candidati che avevano l’ennesima occasione per dimostrare fair play, apertura e rispetto del confronto democratico, scegliendo invece di evitare il dibattito aperto. Dopo decenni di cattiva amministrazione e declino della città, anche solo questo basterebbe per capire quanto Venezia abbia bisogno di una politica diversa.

Anche considerando che i paesi europei rispettano ancora il tratto INF del 1988 e il tratto di Parigi del 1997, cioè non sviluppiamo missili a gittata intermedia e non schieriamo grandi formazioni militari permanenti in paesi confinanti con la Russia. La cosa non è reciproca.

Has anybody ever really tested this argument, because it does not really sound that convincing. 1) Do Israel, South Korea, or Singapore have more scale than Europe? Does not look like this. 2) If Europe lacks scale, i.e. intra-EU barriers prevent growth of startups, how could Amazon, Facebook, Google expand throughout Europe? 3) If scale is not the primary problem, Chandler's book suggest the issue may be scope, maybe?

This article by Robert Kagan is worth reading. It is a searing assessment of the catastrophic failure of the Israel-U.S. war on Iran, calling it a defeat. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland expresses strong concern regarding another incident involving a soldier of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in Lebanon, who showed disrespect toward the figure of the Virgin Mary. Such actions offend the religious sentiments of Christians. Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, states that "everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion." By joining the UN, Israel accepted the organization's values as expressed in the Declaration. This same principle of religious freedom was reflected in Israel's Declaration of Independence, also adopted in 1948. Lebanon, on whose territory the incident occurred, is also a signatory. Every state has a responsibility to respect this fundamental right. In Poland, insulting religious feelings is a punishable offense. Repeated incidents involving representatives of the State of Israel that violate the religious sentiments of Christians undermine efforts to promote peace and cooperation in the Middle East. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland consistently condemns all manifestations of religious discrimination in the world.

Bel dibattito oggi alla Luiss sulla riforma della #legge elettorale. Coordinato da @profdalimonte e con politici di tutti gli schieramenti. Nel mio breve intervento ho sollevato due questioni problematiche della proposta di legge della maggioranza: 1) Semplicità. La politica recupera il rapporto con gli elettori innanzitutto se propone leggi semplici che possono essere capite anche dai non addetti ai lavori. Questa proposta è complessa perfino per chi si occupa di sistemi elettorali da una vita. Se l’obiettivo è la governabilità, lo si può raggiungere in modo semplice attraverso meccanismi diversi usati nelle migliori democrazie del mondo (es. collegi uninominali; circoscrizioni piccole) invece che con un premio di maggioranza che esiste solo in Grecia (peraltro lì almeno va al partito e non alla coalizione) 2) Legittimità. Con un elettorato sfiduciato dalla politica e che si astiene sempre di più, quanto è legittimo produrre una maggioranza del 55% per chi prende il 35% dei voti (questo accadrebbe con il ballottaggio) che corrispondono a circa un elettore su 5 (ipotizzando un’affluenza al 60%). Il governo nasce col sostegno del 20% degli italiani, ossia già delegittimato. Dalle risposte che ho ricevuto, non credo che la maggioranza cambierà idea.

SOCAR Azerbaijan's state oil company just acquired 99.82% of Italiana Petroli (IP): → 10 mt/year refining capacity across 2 Italian refineries → 4,500 service stations across Italy → Aviation fuel, bitumen, logistics assets included → EC approved: February 2026 Gas flows in via TAP. Oil and products flow out via IP's refineries and retail network. SOCAR now has a vertically integrated position inside the EU's 3rd largest economy. Bilateral trade: €10.2 billion in 2025 Italy is Azerbaijan's largest commercial partner. Azerbaijan invested €2.5 billion in Italy. That's an energy alliance formalised by war. The EU wants Russian gas gone. Gulf supply is physically disrupted. The Caspian route via Azerbaijan is the one clean corridor left that avoids both. The Italy-Azerbaijan-SOCAR triangle is the EU's northbound hedge: Caspian gas in via TAP. Azerbaijani oil out via Italian refineries and 4,500 fuel stations. The map of European energy security is being redrawn not in Brussels, but in Baku.
