@RT1953BlakesGP @KeruboSk If you were born in 1953 you were at school by 1960. It’s highly likely that at least 1 of your school teachers then was over 60 years old ie born before 31 Dec 1899. Or your pastor/priest, Sunday School teacher or sports coach. So you would’ve talked to people born in the 1800s

@KeruboSk I'm going on 73. Born in 1953. I don't recall ever talking to someone born in the 1800's.

Just out of curiosity… who out there has actually talked to someone born in the 1800s during their lifetime?

@KeruboSk There are millions of us - you’d only need to have been born as recently as the 1950s or 1960s to have had a grandparent or great aunt/uncle born between 1890-99.

@talkSPORT Its fine, Mikel has primed Noni, Max and Ebe to fill the gap left by Starboy. He’ll be missed, but his absence does not makes us weaker.

@sharrond62 York hospital is a 15-minute walk from the Minster. If I visit a patient there for 10 minutes and then spend 8 hours shopping & sightseeing, do you feel it’s fair that I avoid the £25 it would cost me to park in the public car park next door?

@JuliaHB1 Well of course they’re free - to the kids - & in fact they’re not wholly paid for by taxes - many are part-funded by breakfast cereal companies, etc - which I’d have thought was your kind of capitalist venture. But even if they do cost me £1/year in tax - that’s fine by me!

The breakfasts are not free. They are paid for by taxes - mostly on parents who feed their own kids. Most of these 10,000 children would have had a perfectly healthy breakfast at home without these clubs. This isn't about helping the poorest kids, it's the state taking over the basic job of parenting.
Angela Rayner@AngelaRayner

My pleasure to welcome @Keir_Starmer @AndyBurnhamGM and @bphillipsonMP to Holy Trinity primary school in Ashton this morning. 33 new free breakfast clubs will open across Greater Manchester this week, giving 10,000 more children a free, healthy start to the school day. That’s Labour on your side. 🌹

@JohnSimpsonNews It’s a joke. Crass (I personally hate it), but a joke. The problem is most analysts still can’t tune into the WWE register Trump operates in. Until they do, they’ll keep misreading him.

President Trump has posted this picture on social media of himself as Christ healing the sick. I’ve long given up saying how hard it is to think of any previous US president who behaved like Donald Trump, but comparing himself to Jesus puts him on another level altogether.

@mkhalili @JohnSimpsonNews Where’s the joke/funny part/humorous angle? Is the ‘sick/dead person’ meant to be someone we recognise? If not, what on earth does DJT think this image represents - him as Jesus, with warplanes, the Stars & Stripes, a soldier & some weird Star Wars warriors as backup?

Lord Ashcroft polling shows Andy Burnham as the most popular potential Labour leader by a mile. Nearly three in ten Greens and Reform voters say they'd have backed Burnham in Gorton and Denton. Is he the leader Labour should have chosen?

@Detricraft @WillCalverleyUK He doesn’t lead a national party (has just 0.15% of UK MPs & 0.1% of UK councillors). In fact, Polanski & Davey are the least unpopular (highest net favourability rating) both @ -14%, followed by Badenoch (-25%), Farage (-39%) & Starmer (-48%). Stats from statists.com.

Jesus doesn’t wait for us to have it all together. He is with us in the darkness. He calls us by name and invites us to be with him in the light of the resurrection, to trust that we are known and loved. Read my Easter Day sermon: archbishopofcanterbury.org/speeches/easte…

@Detricraft @WillCalverleyUK If you have 100 children and line them up according to height, the ‘least short’ will also be the “most tall” - even though they won’t be “tall” in any absolute sense. Least unpopular is literally the same thing as most popular.

@WillCalverleyUK "Will CalverleyUK, a young Conservative city councillor, shares a Telegraph report on a More in Common poll claiming Kemi Badenoch has the least negative net approval rating (-9) among UK party leaders as of early April 2026." Least unpopular, isn't the same as most popular.

The fact that you can’t watch the FA Cup on TV is a disgrace. Currently at the Etihad, but why’s it behind a paywall? What’s the point of paying TV licence for? TNT Sports holding the rights to the FA Cup, when it should be on the BBC is a TRAVESTY.

To quote the famous sermon, ‘it’s Friday but Sunday’s coming.’ It’s Good Friday so let’s remember Jesus sacrificially dying in our place. It’s not Sunday yet, when we celebrate resurrection, but I’m blown away that Jesus died for you & me, what a breathtaking sacrifice!

@hurasenberg Spurs in 2010: riding high with the big boys, ambitious plans, challenging for top spot. Good times. Spurs in 2026: closest rivals winning everything, multiple changes of useless people at the top, heading for relegation, supporters dejected & desperate… Tories… same.

@BBCSport Bosnia have lucked out big time here - from nearly going out twice in normal time in the playoffs and sneaking through on penalties both times they’ve ended up in a group where they’ll have a great chance of getting through to the round of 32.

@FrDavidPalmer Every Anglican Archbishop (& bishop, fit) has had hands laid on them to consecrate them as bishops by at least 3 other bishops who in turn had hands laid on them by other bishops who… etc. & this goes back in an unbroken line not just to Cranmer’s time but to St Peter himself.

Anglicans can choose whomsoever they wish to lead them, but in what meaningful sense is she the successor of St Augustine, sent by the Pope to bring the English people into the Catholic Church? Successor to Cranmer maybe… but that’s less than 500 years ago.
