Great that the DNC has released is internal autopsy of what went wrong in the 2024 campaign, If it’s not clear enough, here’s what went wrong: 👉 everyone in America could see that Joe Biden did not have the physical or mental capacity to complete a second term. 👉 few people in the Democratic Party had the wherewithal to demand that Biden announce he will not seek reelection and that there needed be a competitive primary. 👉 by waiting so long to drop out after the disastrous debate performance from which there was no return, Biden destroyed the possibility of a competitive primary. 👉 by anointing Kamala Harris with no competitive primary, the party ensured that no one other than hard-core Democrats would understand why she was the nominee. 👉 by failing to differentiate herself from any policies of the Biden administration, Kamala Harris made herself the ultimate establishment candidate when the electrate wanted change. 👉 by failing to separate herself from the madness of the far left, Kamala Harris became the de facto far left candidate. 👉 in large part, the American people hated woke so much they were willing to elect a convicted felon rather than someone they perceived as being aligned with the crazies. It shouldn’t take 200 pages and months of internal civil war to make clear what went wrong and how we Democrats need to do better going forward. If we don’t kick the bigoted far left skunks out of our big tent, they will spoil the party. If we don’t have a positive vision for all Americans that fills people with hope and a sense of common purpose, there will be no reason for people to support Democratic candidates other than antipathy to Donald Trump and his many minions. I believe the Democratic Party has the potential to rejuvenate itself, but only if it learns very serious lessons from our catastrophic failures.

@ck3268 @JamieMetzl It never fails. I can always count on one of you posting that when I make this point. So, I’ll ask you my standard question. Is it ignorance on your part, or a reading comprehension problem?

@RpsAgainstTrump Yeah, Cornyn. And yet, your political career is coming to a screeching halt. Maybe you should have tried standing up to him. You would still lose your career, but not your reputation. Your grandkids will be so proud.

Sen. Cornyn reacts to Trump endorsing Paxton: “I have worked closely with President Trump through both of his Presidential terms and voted with him more than 99% of the time. He has consistently called me a friend in this race. It is now time for Texas Republican voters to decide if they want a strong nominee to help our GOP candidates down ballot and defeat Talarico in November, or a weak nominee who jeopardizes everything we care about. I trust the Republican voters of Texas.”

BREAKING: Trump endorsed Ken Paxton in the Republican U.S. Senate primary runoff against Sen. John Cornyn in Texas. Paxton was impeached by the Republican-controlled Texas House in 2023 over allegations of bribery and abuse of office. Very good news for Democrats

Bill Cassidy voted his conscience on impeachment, then spent five years sucking up to Donald Trump. He was the deciding vote for the most unqualified HHS Secretary in my lifetime, a guy laying ruin to the public health system, all to get Trump's favor. Message to my fellow Republicans: you're not going to get his favor. It doesn't work that way.

Senate Republicans are livid with Trump. Just now, Sen. Wicker remained stone-faced (appeared to be intentional) for about 20 seconds as he walked into lunch and we asked him for his reaction Sen. Murkowski says TX is all but lost to Dems now

@NormOrnstein It can’t just be as simple as the fact he is a very weak person who is afraid to lose power, so he climbs up into any lap that keeps him relevant?

What was the year it became obvious to you that things were starting to fall apart? The easy answer is 2020, but I think it was a lot earlier than that. Some say 2001, but I think 2015 was when it was clear we had a real problem — and every year since has seen further erosion.

@farhip @NormOrnstein Yep, so gratifying to watch Tillis and Cassidy, who both knew better, see their careers come to a screeching halt after trying to suck up to Trump because they pissed him off for something. When you sell your soul, you are supposed to get someting in return, I beleive.

Footnote: Tillis’ vote to confirm Hegseth as defense secretary brought the tally to a 50–50 deadlock after R senators Collins, McConnell and Murkowski joined Dems in opposing him. His vote allowed VP Vance to cast the tie-breaking vote, confirming Hegseth.
Senator Thom Tillis@SenThomTillis

The careless decision to reduce our force posture in Europe, along with moves by Pete Hegseth and his political henchmen to force out some of our finest general officers is amateur hour at best and deadly at worst. Hegseth continues to surprise and disrespect our greatest allies and some of our best military professionals with impulsive decisions not grounded in reality or good judgment. If the rumors are true that Hegseth is trying to sideline General Chris Donahue, one of our nation’s finest warfighters, by downgrading U.S. Army Europe-Africa to a 3-star command, he is taking another step down a dangerous path. A step that is not in the best interests of our nation or our servicemembers. General Donahue has dedicated his entire career to upholding the high standards and warrior ethos that Hegseth claims he is restoring to our ranks. Gen. Donahue has led Soldiers at all levels in Airborne (including Ft. Bragg’s 82nd) and Mechanized units, the 75th Ranger Regiment, and our most prestigious special operation units. He deployed over 20 times in support of Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn, Inherent Resolve, Atlantic Resolve, Freedom’s Sentinel, European Assure, Deter and Reinforce, and in support of the Sudan crisis. Hegseth would do well to surround himself with more patriots like General Donahue and to get his henchmen, who are not qualified to carry Donahue's bag, out of the Pentagon. Keep your word, Mr. Secretary: choose meritocracy over your mediocre yes-men. notus.org/defense/pentag…

Senator Cassidy spent the last few years after voting to convict Trump in the impeachment trial doing everything he could to get back on Trump’s good side, including casting the deciding vote to confirm RFK Jr. as HHS Secretary despite knowing full well he was utterly unfit for the job. And in the end, it didn’t even help him. He’s now likely to lose the primary to a Trump-endorsed MAGA loon. Turns out surrendering your principles to please Trump gets you nowhere.

Trump: Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana is a disloyal disaster. His entire past campaign for the Senate was about “TRUMP” how he’s with me all the way, and then, after winning, he turned around and voted to IMPEACH me for something that has now proven to be total “bullshit!”… Bill Cassidy is a sleazebag, a terrible guy, who is BAD FOR LOUISIANA. Now he’s going to get CLOBBERED

@TheSWPrincess @RennieThomas4 @Mel_Ankoly We might be in the minority of white people, but there are some of us who are appalled and ashamed. And I’m long past the days of saying, “this is not who we are.” We elected him twice. It’s exactly who we are.

@TheSWPrincess @cwebbonline @Mel_Ankoly You are so right. The majority of white people have only ever voted for a white male for president, and the Democrats have not won the majority of the white vote since 1964 when they passed the Civil Rights Act. The blame lies with us.

You can keep saying Kamala lost due to a single day of campaigning with Liz Cheney, but it will never be true. She lost because Dems renominated an unpopular 82 yo while inflation was high and realized what a disaster it was too late and plan B was mid.
David Sirota@davidsirota

The Resistance Dems/Never Trump corporate faction of the Dem Party that remains hostile to Graham Platner is also the party faction that cheered Dems proudly embracing Dick & Liz Cheney, the duo who lied America into war & created authoritarian powers Trump is now wielding 🤔
