The Boys finale review (spoilers) . . . . . . . . . . . Homelander should have killed a lot of people, not just threatened to do it. We never got to see Homelander just zooming above a city slaughtering innocents. Missed opportunity. Homelander should have had a lot more time to freak out over having his powers taken away. Watching him go insane over being just a normal human would have been fun. Butcher could have snuck in and killed him at the end before the big finale. Butcher and Hughie's ending was perfect, as were the resolutions for all the other Boys. I expected them to kill several more of the Boys, but they decided to go with the happy ending. More darkly ironic political commentary after the fall of Homelander would have been a fun way to make the ending more cynical and bittersweet without killing more main characters. It would have been fun seeing more of Sage as a normal person. Starlight should have helped in the final fight against Homelander. It should have been made clear why making more Homelander-level superheroes is no longer possible.

40 years ago the average speed of a train in China was….40 miles an hour. More bizarrely for Britain, HS1 cost 50 million a mile, rather than a billion, and took a decade to build. These aren’t long lost abilities, this was built in the 2000s. Something is seriously wrong!

Nothing epitomises Europe's utter loss of state capacity like the inability to build infrastructure (with eg Nordic/Eastern exceptions). Britain invented railways. And is now reduced to this. In the same period China will have built dozens of airports, nuclear power plants etc

I think Andy Burnham is a decent bloke, with a past over 15 years ago that wasn’t left wing, just like Zack Polanski. Seems strange that some on the left are willing to forgive Zack for being a pro coalition Lib Dem on the right of the party. But they can’t look past Andy being a Brownite 20 years ago. And, interestingly, they both had the same stance on Israel. Zack was a hardcore Zionist. And Burnham in LFI. Yet excuses are made for Zack, while Burnham condemned and not allowed to change his mind. It all seems really hypocritical to me 🤔

One of the most effective bits of political communication on the left I’ve seen in a long time. A message and a powerful messenger.
