These statistics just do not seem real to me.
I'm starting to come to a conclusion that Americans are like dark matter, in the sense that you can observe maybe 1.5% of Americans, and the other 98.5 are purely statistical entities who cannot be observed in practice. I have no other explanation for AI penetration being so low.

China graduated ~ 44× as many materials science bachelors as the US in 2024, to put data to it. It's the most drastic asymmetry of any major engineering field. Though it's neither country's top field. (China graduates ~7-10x as many undergrad engineers per year overall)
