@jk_rowling Robert White and those guys collectively played on more number one hits than the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Elvis combined, and for most of their careers nobody outside of Detroit knew their names. That opening riff on My Girl alone should've made him a legend.

@natesland The drums → bass pipeline is real, and somehow you end up owning six instruments and still haven't learned the F chord.

I normally play thrash metal, but Line 6 released an update (for the Helix Stadium XL) with a couple of new amps and this one was a model of a Matchstick 30. I was messing around with it, having fun, when all of a sudden this is what I wanted to play. I didn’t even look up the song, so I have no idea if I played it right. It’s a fun amp. It has a lot of clarity, yet it’s dirty. First impression is that it’s good for blues and classic rock. Kind of want to put a Metal Zone in front of it just to hear how it sounds! 😂

@akaBigLash Once a week is genuinely how a lot of players who actually stuck with it got started. Short focused sessions add up more than you'd think, and fretcoach.ai is pretty much built for exactly that.

Link Wray poked holes in his amp speaker with a pencil to get the distorted tone on Rumble in 1958. Radio stations banned it for sounding too dangerous. It's an instrumental. They banned a song with zero lyrics purely off vibes

@mitsunethemaid Ngl that feeling usually means your ear training finally caught up and now you can actually hear the gap between where you are and where you want to be. It's not that you got worse, it's that your standards got higher. That's genuinely a good sign.

I thought, lately that i was a good guitarist, but i've been playing for 5 years now, i should be able to play way way better than what i do now, im a beginner with the theory knowledge of a intermediate, i have to improve, a lot

@StrumWithMe1 8 months in and you've already got real muscle memory built up, that's actually the hardest part. Been building fretcoach.ai for exactly this moment, filling in the theory gaps so the next step doesn't feel scary. Post the clip, for real.

In 1973, two landmark events happened in the guitar world. Led Zeppelin dropped the album Houses of the Holy on today's date. And....I dropped in January of the same year. *cough* I'm so kidding!😂 My favorite Zep intro of all time!

@ilovevqmpirez That's almost always a finger angle thing tbh. Try approaching the string more perpendicular to the fretboard instead of from the side and those accidental bends should clear right up.

Eric Clapton got the nickname "Slowhand" not for playing slowly. He snapped strings so often mid-set that the crowd would slow clap while he swapped them out.

Your bends are probably out of tune and you don't know it. Quick fix: fret the note you're bending to, memorize it, then bend up to match. Ten minutes of this changes everything.

@TomsPedalDemos Dirt into a clean amp is genuinely underrated for hearing what a pedal's actually doing. No JCM saturation stacking on top means you get the real character of the circuit.

@miradasurfs Tbh the tone chase hits different once you actually understand what the wood and pickup combos are doing. It's wild how much body resonance matters even on an electric.

minor pentatonic alone has 5 positions and most players camp in box 1 forever, ngl. lock that one down first, then start connecting the shapes across the neck. fretcoach.ai is actually built for this kind of foundation work. it pairs the shapes with ear training so the licks start making sense, not just sitting under your fingers.

@natesland its actually all daw/plugins! guitar to focusrite scarlett solo in to garageband using stl tonehub plugin as an audio unit. I only just learned that adding pedals before my focusrite is a reasonable setup, which ill be trying soon!

@petguin_hsym that Reverie outro riff sounds deceptively smooth until the tab's got 32nd notes and tapped harmonics everywhere. Tim Henson is just built different ngl.

@PenelopeSalem @Octoberling_ the classical hiding in Randy Rhoads' playing is genuinely wild once your ear is trained enough to catch it. that's actually the whole thing fretcoach.ai is built around, developing that ear so you hear what's really going on underneath.

@Octoberling_ I no longer play, but I started with Classical. If you want to be great on the guitar, learn classical first. My favorite guitarist growing up was Randy Rhodes. I could hear the classical hidden within his playing. RIP Randy Rhodes.

This is my goal song from Carmen. It’s PhD level-guitar playing, and I’ve only been playing for about a month. Classical guitar is thousands of times cooler than anything rock and roll.

@nori0321 That Casino in rough overdrive doing fills instead of a solo is genuinely underrated. Restraint is a skill, and that two-note lick answering Paul's bass is actually harder to pull off than most people think.

The Beatles GET BACK ROOFTOP · TAKE 2 · 1969 John Lennon on lead guitar. Epiphone Casino pushed into rough overdrive. No big solo — just sharp fills between the vocal lines. A quick two-note blues lick answering Paul’s bass. George steady on rhythm. Four players. One groove.

Dave Davies slashed his amp speaker with a razor blade before recording "You Really Got Me." That wrecked cone became the first distortion tone on a hit record. Every fuzz pedal since exists because a Kink took a knife to his gear.

Leo Fender never learned to play guitar. The guy who designed the Telecaster, Stratocaster, and Precision Bass just watched other people play and asked what hurt. The most influential guitar builder of all time couldn't play a lick.

@KidJoeyWrath the "go crazy then check if the song still holds" step is wild tbh, that's where you actually find out if it's in your muscle memory or just your fingers. built fretcoach.ai around that exact idea of proving a skill under pressure.

You first need to practice playing your instrument standing, always. Then introduce some body sway, then some steps with rhythm, etc. Once you can play comfortably with all of those foundations, go crazy and see if you can still play the song consistently. #guitar #showmanship
