@campbellclaret @Scaramucci @GoalhangerPods @RestIsPolitics @RoryStewartUK @dcsandbrook @MarinaHyde It was really good & very interesting. So different from much of the other election night coverage.
English

Thanks to the brilliant @GoalhangerPods team who helped deliver our three @RestIsPolitics Livestreams and thanks from me and @RoryStewartUK to @Scaramucci @dcsandbrook @MarinaHyde Great panel and great guests.

@ThreshedThought Europe accepting the fact that we are on our own is going to be hard. US backed NATO will be finished sooner or later, so Europe and the U.K. need to realize that. Russia is the threat. Countries like Poland need to start acquiring nuclear weapons as soon as possible.
English

The UK immediately needs to:
- Increase defence spending rapidly (rather than shrinking its army)
- Focus its military strategy on deterring Russian aggression in Europe (rather than confronting ‘global threats’)
- Work with European allies to defend Europe under a NATO that doesn’t have US support (rather than assuming that America guarantees European security).
Anything less would be a government dereliction of duty.

@RoryStewartUK He could just buy an old copy of Sim City and have some fun with that.

This really is a perfect thread on the current culture - utopian dreams hovering between satire absurdity and inanity - each post almost too perfect

A year ago, I was canceled by the New York Times for trying to build a society of portly merchants, muscular warriors, and very thin priests. Yesterday, we announced a $525m facility to make it a reality. The press is dead, long live Praxis. Here’s how we did it:

@jayrayner1 It was a very entertaining review. The wine mark-ups were quite something.

A big name chef called Jason Atherton opens a hot dog stand at Harrods. I go. It’s truly awful. An insult to the very notion of hot dogs. So that’s another reason not to go to Harrods. This week’s restaurant review.

@redskyatnight I thought that too as I screamed at the radio “either they were just kids or they weren’t even born”

Donald Tusk says beavers are partly to blame for the severity of recent floods, warning that "sometimes you have to choose between love for animals and safety".
But a biologist says the prime minister is talking "nonsense" and making beavers a "scapegoat" politico.eu/article/poland…

@SoozUK I thought his explanation on BBC Radio was fair enough. He wanted his lad to be out of the limelight when it was his exams. Is that not fair enough?
English

@BDStanley He looks a bit like Bob Dylan in those specs

@MatthewLBishop Manchester Airport is awful. It’s hostile environment 1000%. The only things that enjoy that airport are the bus shelters. (The low ceilings, the awful lifts, the arrows that lead you to nowhere. It’s so horrible!)
English

@djglendinning @DmitryOpines He’s consistently wrong about almost everything and he’s very confident in his opinions too. An empty vessel makes the most sound…
English

@DmitryOpines The inimitable ‘World’s Wrongest Man’ is not noted for the coherence or consistency of his positions on EU matters.

English

@David__Osland @david_slimmon I hope his team get him a lettuce to celebrate. It should become a British tradition that every PM gets one after passing Point Truss. In 100 years time it will still be happening but hardly anyone will remember why.
English

@olex_scherba That a huge doormat! I hope many feet were wiped on it. It’s all that dishrag deserves.
