@LauraLolder Student would want to add a word and I’d say: do you know what that word means? (No) it would have nothing to do with what he was actually saying about the evidence he was pulling from the text. Hard to navigate without undermining the teacher

@LauraLolder I used to tutor an international student whose teacher would teach them to shoehorn loads of fancy terminology into their analysis. Some of the modelled paragraphs provided didn’t even make logical sense but sounded good from a student’s perspective. 🤦🏼‍♀️

To be clear, if you want to teach your kids this, crack on. I disagree with the term being applied to AIC but it can be argued. What I LOATHE is giving students high level vocabulary they do not intend to discuss/utilise. It’s superficial. PS - AQA don’t like it either 👇🏻

@MrsThompsonSci @greeborunner @bentleykarl When I write notes on a tablet they don’t exist after I’ve finished. I need a physical notebook if I want to return to my notes.

@greeborunner @bentleykarl My handwriting is awful on digital screens, I'm still not good on the screen I have in my classroom now compared to the whiteboard I had. I gave up with my kindle scribe because of it.

Eventually some folk will discover that you can handwrite on an ipad or tablet. 🤣

Today I witnessed one of the weirdest moments I’ve had in teaching to date.. 10am, mid lesson, a lad pulls out a raw steak (butchers shop edition) from his bag, with a tub of salt 🧂 refusing to put this away, he proceeds to tear bits off, dip them in the salt & eat them.
