587 days. That's how long the Canadian healthcare system took to call me back about the spinal surgery I needed immediately or risk losing the use of my legs. In 2024, I broke my back in Singapore. The neurosurgeon there said surgery was urgent. After 3 weeks fighting my insurance from a hospital bed, I flew home with medical support. The Canadian hospital quoted an 8-month wait. I'm lucky I could afford to go private. The next day, I had the operation. Today, 587 DAYS LATER, the public hospital called to say they're ready for me. People say Canadian healthcare is free and great. It's neither. It's horrible!

I'm a black Republican who currently represents a majority-white district in the Ohio State House and is running to represent a majority-white district in Congress. The idea that black Americans need special districts carved out just for them is complete nonsense. It's a violation of the law and blatantly unconstitutional. Glad the Supreme Court made the right decision.

@RageSkylarr @UziCryptoo TX has a 10% annual cap. So unless his property tax bill was 36k the year before. As long as you have the Homestead. The only the 10% can be exceeded is by a public vote passing something like a tax increase or say a VATRE.

@UziCryptoo It isn't your state that sets the value, it's your county. In South Texas we got the problem of people not paying property taxes for sht because they live in MX the work here and send their kids to school over here. Then the county raises the taxes every year to make up for that.

Texas doesn’t have state income tax. What it DOES have is a property tax bill that resets every year based on whatever your home is “worth now.” Mine went up $3,800 in a single year. I didn’t get a raise. My house didn’t get bigger. The state just decided it needed more money. At least california is honest about robbing you.

@Dilbertunzipped @UziCryptoo Yes. It's literally always been that. It was setup as an 'insurance' system to ensure seniors fared...well...in their old age and an no longer died in poverty as they were dying before. We should reform it. And all welfare programs for sure.

By the time I am 65, over $600,000 will be paid into Social Security on my behalf. That money would have been worth $1.9 million if I had gotten a 5% return. My annual interest would be $95k. The government promises me $3,075/month at age 67, which is $37k/year. HOW IS THIS NOT THEFT??
