@inrictus I’m watching alone from home. The first time I’ve missed a boro match at Wembley. Hopefully I’m the bad omen. 😄

Bicester, High Wycombe, Brent; the endless list of places that lie dormant in the mind until Boro reach a Wembley final. I've heard them all today.

@louorns 2014 World Cup. Germany and France were almost certain to meet in the quarters. Deschamps spoke publicly about what he thought was attempted spying at their camp during the group stage. Guess who was Germany’s chief opposition analyst?

Cologne were caught spying in 2015 vs Hamburg. You’ll never guess who was there at the time, would you? Better yet, look at the details of how it was set up. A hotel booked in the opposition clubs facility

🚨 BREAKING: Southampton manager Tonda Eckert admitted he was responsible for the decision to spy on opponents — his key defence was that, since the practice is widespread on the continent, he had no idea he was breaking English football rules #saintsfc @TeleFootball

@StevenProfitt I also believe Southampton should have been docked 3 points for every league match they’ve were proven to have broken the rules before. Where did the 4 point deduction come from?

@StevenProfitt Southampton broke the rules before the first leg. Their punishment should have been to forfeit that match 3-0. Therefore Boro would progress 4-2 on aggregate. Different explanation, same outcome. Less outcry about a disproportionate penalty.

If it had been the 3rd round of the cup, nobody would have a problem with them being kicked out and us put through to the next round. The playoffs should be no different. Same crime, same punishment.

😤 "It is over the top... it is a disproportionate penalty!" 🤦‍♂️ "We've lost a sense of perspective on the impact spying can have!" Football finance expert Stefan Borson explains why the EFL are wrong to expel #SaintsFC from the play-offs!"

@JamesCarr02 An independent panel decided Middlesbrough DO deserve to be in the final. Your opinion is biased therefore worthless.

The only two things Im certain of after this week from hell are that the club has let the fans down enormously and that Middlesbrough 100% do not deserve to be in the final. Why should they be there? Put Hull up straight away. Massive reward for them after doing nothing #saintsfc

After this crazy 24 hours. There is one guy, who all season has given everything. Absolutely loves the club, the fans, and Teesside. Played literally every single game - and misses out on the biggest game of his career. He deserved to be there on Saturday. All with ya Tommy 💯

Hear me out… anyone else feel like Wembley is now a bit of a free hit, Obviously a massive match, but I’d already made my peace with another Championship season. Could work to our advantage. #UTB

@robbojv @GraemeBandeira @Puel_Out Let the EFL deal with it then, the facts are it had no bearing on the club bottling promotion which was down to Gibson just like the last 20 years of failure and now he is using a clown in a bush to cover up his failings……Embarrassing

This has all been very convenient for Gibson and Hellberg. Completely distracting from their complete bottling of automatic promotion and then bottling the play offs. There should have been serious questions asked, but they’ve played a PR blinder and Boro fans falling for it 😂

Look at these utter ignorant fools! Fly camping above the Kirkstone Pass Inn 😮🤯 It’s been reported to @WandFCouncil but who knows if anyone will head out to educate and enforce Public Space Protection Orders within a UNESCO World Heritage Site? #lakedistrict #countrysidecode My fell running pal sent me these images infuriated asking where are the rangers. Fact is such inconsiderate and irresponsible behaviour needs reporting. Hopefully, they’ll be approached with care and education. It’s a helluva tent to carry up that steep part of the fell above the Kirkstone Pass Inn! I’m sure the guests staying in the boutique accommodation holiday let by the pub will appreciate such views. I wonder if it’ll be abandoned on the fellside tomorrow? How much litter is left behind? Maybe fire pits that harm the land? 🤔🤔

@AyresomeGates @jonsopel All completely over the top Mike. You know that there was no advantage gained by any alleged embarrassing spying. Boro were all over Saints the 1st half of the 1st leg but missed several chances. Should have scored. Have a great day.

Is the outrage over Spygate understandable? An act of crass stupidity, I’ll grant you. But this is less Philby and Burgess and more Laurel and Hardy. Some hapless intern is sent to film from 400M on his smart phone the Middlesbrough team kicking footballs. What searing insights would the Southampton side have got? ‘Ok boss they’re kicking the ball with both their left and right feet. Sometimes they’re heading it.’ It’s all so silly. Southampton look like a right bunch of Charlies. But in the pantheon of great sporting scandals, this is pimple sized
Henry Winter@henrywinter

The outrage about Spygate is understandable. If proven, it’s cheating. It’s seeking to gain a sporting advantage over an opponent. Let’s hope this ire is also now focused on other varieties of cheating in football, namely the amount of deceit that can stain games... 1/2
