I'm so glad that I watched Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in their prime. I feel sorry for the younger generation that would be gaslighted that Messi is the goat or the better player. The problem here isn't how the foul is won but the punishment for it. Innocuous fouls around the edge of the box with little impact on general play really shouldn't result in a 76% chance of a goal. That gives attackers a huge incentive to play for fouls anywhere in the box.
