@G27Status I don’t think so. Jason Schreier’s breakdown shows everyone involved will get a bigger cut. That’s all they care about.

I genuinely wonder if any of Sony's partners have approached them about how their choice on physical games has "devalued" their social media marketing or if it's a situation of "any press is good press" since the engagement is so high

@G27Status Same happened to me. Was playing my entire digital library on my Vita!

@mtgproductionss I got a new 13 mini in February with 100%. Just hit 92% yesterday. I think the 27 dev beta is cooking it

8 Days later and my iPhone 17 Pro battery capacity is already at 93% 😭

@Gamingtramp @SkyeTheNerd @DialgaMarine92 @_Firehawke_ Sony’s policy for digital PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 games requires a one-time online check to confirm the game's license right after purchase. After this initial connection to the PlayStation Network, no further recurring 30-day online check-ins are required to play
English

Took my #PS5 completely offline today to test if I can run physical games without having to be online. So far, I’m having no issues. As expected, I do not have access to the PlayStation Store or PS+ features but otherwise games are loading and playable. I’m going to SNES this console. I’m done being Sony’s ATM

@GOODTIME5759 @SkyeTheNerd @DialgaMarine92 @_Firehawke_ Until the time expires and it needs to check again.
English

@SkyeTheNerd @DialgaMarine92 @_Firehawke_ It’s a one time check. Once that happens it’s no longer required
English

@DialgaMarine92 @_Firehawke_ Not entirely true, they implemented a new policy recently where any new digital games bought will be locked after 30 days without a internet connection.
English

@BogeyDanger @mugiseb I wouldn't give up gaming entirely but it would influence my purchases in a very different way. I'd probably just play less new stuff overall. Maybe pickup stuff on sale? It would just mean investing less money and support only the games I really might value.

El man de digital foundry ha estado siendo muy vocal con el tema de Playstation y me parece bien, pero ¿qué creen que va a hacer cuando por su trabajo tenga que analizar el rendimiento de la Ps6?

@XboxTimdog Yeah, PlayStation is over for me. Done. You know how it is, you dropped Xbox over business decisions, right?

@DarkSoulBert @dark1x @JuiceMan_V I find it strange how people can be so against studio closures and layoffs, but are fine with stealing games from them
English

@dark1x @JuiceMan_V “If Steam removes a game you can easily obtain it anyway” so piracy then? This is not an answer
English

@JackRhien @dark1x That’s actually pretty cool, didn’t know that was a thing
English

@GOODTIME5759 @dark1x To be fair, at least with GOG, you can get those DRM-free and back those up without issue (I miss when I could get actual physical media for PC though).
English

Just imagine the excitement! $1000+ console potentially! Digital only! Back compat for your discs? F* you. Slow release schedule? Sure! Ultra extended cross-gen period? Why not! What a great proposition. I bet it has AI features!

PlayStation 6 is ‘almost guaranteed’ for a 2028 launch after today's digital-only news, according to Ampere, and Sony could offer 'some process of transferral' for transferring older physical media to digital. vgc.news/news/playstati…

@GOODTIME5759 Which is why I do not like spending full price on Steam games. However, having a physical copy is only half of the thing for me - being able to do what I want with the game is also critical and the PC allows that. Locked down console does not.
English

@GOODTIME5759 I don't buy full priced games on Steam usually (only cheap titles on sale) but, more importantly, it's an open platform - you can legally/illegally access any game you've purchased. It's not locked down. So don't give me that nonsense.
English

@kroshkaruiya @dark1x I should’ve specified steam, as they’re the biggest storefront.
English

@GOODTIME5759 @dark1x Did I say Steam? GOG offers you DRM-free games with an offline installer that you can backup to an external storage.
English

@kroshkaruiya @dark1x You don’t own your games on steam. You can’t sell them or lend them to a friend. You own the license and they can disappear at any moment
English

@GOODTIME5759 @dark1x Digital on PC has more options, including the ones that are as close to ownership of games as you can get.
English

Yeah this totally sucks. They will eventually try to blame this decision on the handheld, but the reality is, they want you spending more money on games, with less consumer choice.
Don't take my word for it! Look at the prices of physical vs digital on PSN for older titles.
