Call me a socialist if you want, but I genuinely don't think people should have to spend more than half their paycheck just to keep a roof over their head. If working full time still leaves you struggling to afford rent, maybe that's the part of the system we should be questioning.

This is a shallow attempt by the WSJ to portray Norway as a country that isn't socialist.
Norway's contemporary economic model was built by socialists.
Norway's first post-war and longest-serving Prime Minister, Einar Gerhardsen, was a democratic socialist. In his youth, he participated actively in communist activities and was even imprisoned for his progressive views.
We call him Landsfaderen in Norway, which means "father of the nation." He is considered the main architect of the post-war rebuilding of Norway.
Today, Norway has one of the highest unionisation rates in the world, some of the most successful state-owned enterprises, and a welfare state that has made us one of the world's most egalitarian societies.
This is all a direct lineage of our explicitly socialist past.

Conservatives are not well represented in academia because conservatism is, for the most part, the ideology of the incurious. Abortion is bad because the Bible said so. Immigrants are bad because Fox News said so. Capitalism is good because Reagan said so

@kayteterry That actually is a huge problem in academia. I’m pro-choice, but there are a ton of serious intellectual arguments against legal abortion, both religious and secular. Students should be exposed to them…especially the ones who grew up in deep blue areas.

That's enough to buy private health insurance for 267 Canadians.
