Some people see a small act…but I see something much bigger. I see a young man who chose to spend his time serving someone else.I see a smile that comes from doing something that matters. And I see a reminder that kindness doesn’t have an age requirement. This young man didn’t show up because he had to… he showed up because he cared. And on the other side of that door is someone who now feels seen, appreciated, and not forgotten. That’s what the Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service is all about. Through the 50 Yard Challenge, kids all across the country are stepping up to mow free lawns for the elderly, disabled, single parents, and veterans… not for a reward, but for the impact. Because when a child learns to serve…they don’t just change one lawn, they start changing the world. If you have a child in your life, talk to them about making a difference. You never know whose life they might brighten… just by knocking on a door. Making a difference, one lawn at a time.

@JBoogiefever @Jomboy_ I am an umpire, and I have to use the slot, mainly for safety reasons. Even in the slot, I get at least a half-dozen balls go whizzing passed my head within inches on foul balls. Were I to be behind the catcher, I'd have racked up more than the two concussions I've already had.

I attended the Wendelstedt Umpire School, where they teach you to work “the slot” — positioned between the batter and the catcher. Early in my career, I did exactly that. And honestly? I racked up a lot of ejections because I couldn’t consistently lock in a strike zone. As I worked more games behind the plate, I realized how much I disliked the slot. For me, it made the outside corner tougher to see, and I was hearing about it from coaches, players, and fans. That’s part of the job — feedback, whether you like it or not. So I adjusted. I moved more directly behind the catcher instead of working off to the side, and my plate work improved dramatically. I started calling better games and eventually became a high school state championship official. At the minor and major league levels, umpires are evaluated constantly. You don’t get there by accident, and you certainly don’t get there by being bad at your job. An umpire who reaches that level has done a lot of things right. That said, we all have bad games. It happens. This gentleman was having one. There are countless factors that can affect your performance behind the plate on any given day. And I’ll finish with this: calling balls and strikes is, for many umpires, the toughest part of the job. If someone thinks umpiring is easy, I’d encourage them to sign up with their local association and try it. It’ll give you a whole new respect for what goes into the job.

@FedExHelp @FedEx Well, got 2 deliveries today, one only took 27 days to come from one state away. The 3 missing pkgs were all out for delivery, again, until they ended up BACK at Plain City. 3 FedEx trucks were in my neighborhood yesterday, and not one stopped. Unbelievable

@FedEx @FedExHelp So, how many Cases do I have to have open for packages to get delivered? Currently at 5, Resolution Dept says Plain City OH facility Mgr will contact me - nope. Drivers lie and say I'm not home, say undeliverable. 3 weeks now

On this day in 1791, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died at the age of 35. He created over 600 musical compositions during his short life, including The Marriage of Figaro. Turn up your volume and get your day started with a little Mozart.
