Guernsey to Amsterdam in 3 hours and 45 mins via Heathrow.
And amazing customer service thanks to Abi who helped with a rather embarrassing food mishap!

@MichaelGallon Absolutely chaotic day from start to finish. Brilliant fun. When it just used to be about having fun. It's far too serious these days.

@Skiddles1985 @JohnFernandez1 @ci_aviation Its an economic enabler. I'm genuinely not fussed. I used to visit Guernsey 5-6 times per year, every year for 2 decades. But I haven't been there for nearly 2 years now due to Aurigny's fares. That means local businesses are losing out on probably £5,000 per year.
English

@GY1Matt @JohnFernandez1 @ci_aviation Taxes just between SOU and GCI are around £40, fuel cost per person is around £20-25 per person, (based on the current Jet A1 average price in Europe) so you are at £65 before you pay ground handlers, crew, navigation and aircraft costs.

Guernsey's States-owned airline has been projected to make a £5m loss this year.
The President of STSB has blamed "cannibalisation" of passengers on the services to London by the new British Airways Heathrow route.

This is exactly why you can't trust the media in this country. Today's @DailyMirror front page with glaring contrasting information. If their 'chief reporter' can't proof read or fact check his own front page report, what else of they misinforming people about?

English

@Skiddles1985 @JohnFernandez1 @ci_aviation I get that. But why are they happy to fly an empty seat when they could have made something back on it? The flight was only half full less than 2 hours from departure. They had zero chance of filling those seats. Surely selling a seat at £50 is better than an empty £150 seat?
English

@GY1Matt @JohnFernandez1 @ci_aviation You do realise an airlines the size of Aurigny can't make any money on a £50 ticket? It would lose them a significant sum.
The BA/Easyjet's and Ryanair's have significant ancillary revenue & economies of scale, which makes a £50 fare work, it doesn't work for regional carriers.
English

@MICH30 @JohnFernandez1 @ci_aviation If you're lucky it will, then with the refund you could get a much cheaper & quicker flight to Heathrow with BA!
Even including the parking charges at Heathrow it worked out cheaper than Aurigny's flight price!
English

@GY1Matt @JohnFernandez1 @ci_aviation I have paid £230 with hold luggage from LCY in August and the way things are looking it will be cancelled! 😞
English

@JohnFernandez1 @ci_aviation How on earth can Aurigny plead poverty & bemoan the introduction of BA, when their prices have been far too high for far too long? They SHOULD be absolutely rolling in it with how much they have been charging. Where has all that money gone?
English

@JohnFernandez1 @ci_aviation I myself have called Aurigny on a Friday & asked for their best price from SOU to Guernsey that day, only to be quoted upwards of £150 one way without luggage - even after being told the flight is nowhere near full. £50 gets me on that flight & gives them back lost income.
English

@LaSarine @Ronst21 @JohnFernandez1 Probably because some BA business class prices are still cheaper than Aurigny's normal prices, so people will spoil themselves & still save money! Aurigny have competition now & they don't like it one bit.
English

@Ronst21 @JohnFernandez1 Simon Calder’s recent article about the BA link was interesting. Said that it used a plane that had capacity over lunchtimes and that it catered for the rich in island with its business class offering. Bus class was full, eco only half.

@CraigHope_DM @NUFC360 When Isak left, Gordon was straight on Instagram wishing his 'mate' the best of luck. This is history repeating itself.

Talk sense.
