I blog about games from a philosophical point of view, because that's totally a thing that well-adjusted people do in their spare time. He/him/his

@albertaborn32 @Jantafrench They can be replaced but not by a premier. They're appointed by the GG on advice of the PM. I doubt either of those are keen to provide extraordinary support to the ASA if LG won't sign off. To override this, there would at minimum need to be a PM elected who'd be all-in on it.

@Thranth1 @LukaszukAB Contractor prequalification is mostly like "do you have insurance, WCB, and OK safety stats?" but I've seen a few that have lengthy lists of things you can't post about on social media, etc. I haven't seen any explicitly "no politics" but it wouldn't be a stretch compared to some

@Thranth1 @LukaszukAB They're not interested in "virtue signaling" for its own sake. They are interested in limiting liability and intangible damage to their reputation. Those things don't always overlap. Sometimes they do. It depends who and where you are.

If your employee showed up at work with a “F..k Trudeau” or “F..k Kenney” t-shirt, wouldn’t you send him home? Then why are trucks with such offensive signs allowed on job-sites? It’s time for corporate leadership & restore respect. We can disagree respectfully. #abpoli #cdnpoli

@LukaszukAB What that means to the general public: if you see something that looks really bad, look around. Is there a chain link fence around the site with a really big company's name on it? See if you can find contact info for whatever department handles relations with public/customers/etc

@LukaszukAB In other words, Jim of JimBob Enterprises might not give a damn if people complain that his brother Bob has very offensive decals on his work truck. But, if the bigger company in charge of the site was getting a lot of complaints from the public, JimBob might get blacklisted.

Thanks to the Hate Mailer who sent me this comprehensive COVID conspiracy "map" (read: like someone puréed Alex Jone's brain and gave it to Jackson Pollack... um, too graphic?). This is from an outfit called Deep State Mapping Project. They sell t-shirt, mugs, and crystals!

@RealTalkRJ @aaronpaquette @KristopherWells @TourismJasper Valbella would not be suffering if they had politely declined to make a donation. It is because Jeff chose to dig in. Real Talk is not obligated to call out a sponsor. Y'all could just not respond to those people asking questions about that. Blocking them for it is a choice.

I hope MSM has teams of investigative journalists digging into the veracity of all this. I hope something breaks in main stream media news. I fully expect they are facing SLAPP injunctions. I hope they are not being muzzled internally. 5/18

With all the absolutely nutbar conspiracy theories out there, w/ all the QAnon, Romana Didulo, etc going on, no one wants to be associated w/ another crazy conspiracy theory. Right? So, what do you do when you hear a narrative that is way out there, but seems to explain a lot?🧵

@ShawnaGofABPoli Or, a non-union employer with normal HSE policies where the safety sup tells Mark this is unacceptable, to take advantage of the company's yearly PPE credit, get a decent pair of boots, and stop being an embarrassment to the company because he IS being paid enough to afford boots

@BridgieCasey I am not convinced that clarifying the distinction is always useful, though, because income is often more important than class. A family pulling in $100-200k from employment does not suffer from privatization of health care like a single freelancer pulling in $20-40k would.

@BridgieCasey I think part of the reason is that there is no distinction in the mainstream discourse between middle class and middle income. When politicians talk about "the middle class" usually they are usually talking about the (mostly) working class but middle income common folks.

@montrealer97 @MackLamoureux Because of the way the law works. A person must be notified of their trespass and they're still OK as long as they immediately proceed to the nearest exit. This is good for places where there are no visible fences/lines and a person accidentally wanders onto private land.

The amount of abuse this rich anti-masker—who is only wealthy because his dad owns a Vaughn home development company—doles out to front-line low-wage workers is disgusting. These supposed pro-business anti-mask influencers legit don't treat workers as human.

I will check out the livestreams later or boost the work of other accounts that are already doing it. Two thoughts. First, I don't think that number of attendees meets the threshold for 'super mega.' Second, the police presence in the area is intense.

@BridgieCasey It sure fills me with confidence whenever I look to my left and see Glorious Revolutionary Twitter behaving like this. There is no form of praxis I love more than dunking on imperfect progressives for doing things that are maybe inadvisable but well within public health rules.

@BanFoolish @maxfawcett No disagreement here on adequate funding nor about having good equipment for lab assignments. My point is that spending lots of $$$ on shiny new computers is not the same as teaching at a more fundamental level that can transcend changing trends in popular hardware/languages/etc.

@G_D_MacFarlane @maxfawcett I mean, is it a bad idea as part of a curriculum that actually uses computers to code? No, probably not. Is it a bad idea to try to teach kids to code while spending zero extra dollars to provide the tech needed to do it properly? Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is.
