So when Islamists carved out a portion of Hindu’s indigenous sacred land, the indigeneity didn’t transfer over to the Pakistanis. That’s not how that works. The only thing folks accomplish when they “point out” that land that is a part of ancient Hindu civilization is now a part of Pakistan is that Pakistan is on stolen land. In many ways, because of Pakistan’s ethnic cleansing of Hindus and its mass and systematic destruction of Hindu sacred sites, it could be considered an apartheid state. Hang on a second…

@DrDavidMiano @SagasofBharat ...... As far as i an aware she has never owned up to her mistakes in the past and doesn't do so in the present as well. This rubs people the wrong way.

@DrDavidMiano @SagasofBharat ..... A certain degree of honesty in dealing with critique of their work. Every critique cannot be labelled as "Hindutva Attack". Engaging, discussing and correcting oneself are what is least expected from academics. Trushke is a repeated offender in this regard.

I fully support historians writing on foreign cultures. We still value the contributions of Megasthenes, Xuanzang, and Strabo etc But then there are colonial crooks who openly admitted their political agendas Can they be trusted equally?

Do you believe that historians should only work on the histories of their own countries and of their own ancestors, or do you think that, if they observe the historical method and proper globally-accepted standards of investigation, anyone can study the history of any region?

@DrDavidMiano @SagasofBharat Isn't it expected from a 'respected' academic to own up to their mistakes. To the best of my knowledge she hasn't corrected her error up to this point. You continuing to defend her makes you look bad David.

@DrDavidMiano @SagasofBharat You didn't see the "antics" part in my tweet David. "Hindutva" is a dog whistle for her. A means to silence any critique of her work. If for a second we believe that, an inadvertent error has been made by her, then isn't she supposed to correct her mistake?

@DrDavidMiano @SagasofBharat ..... History of indian subcontinent. You would presume that she would have at least been aware with the latest research. But alas l, expecting even bare minimum is too much. David, stop defending the indefensible. You are better than this

@DrDavidMiano @SagasofBharat For a person who postures herself as an expert in Indian History, this is a bad defence. A bare persual of her work and antics makes it abundantly clear that she has vested interest in diminishing. If my memory serves me well then hasn't she published a "comprehensive".......

I don't know why you are asking me, when you can just go look it up yourself. Brahmanism was based on the Vedas, especially the Brahmanas and early Upanishads. Hinduism evolved from Brahmanism through interaction with non-Vedic traditions, incorporating temple worship, devotional practices, and the epic and Puranic literature. Brahamanism focused on rituals, and Hinduism focused on bhakti. Brahmanism stressed devotion to Brahman. Hinduism developed the prominent Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva) and the huge pantheon of deities seen as manifestations of Brahman.

The Harappan civilization spanned what is now Pakistan and northwest India, and instead of discussing history in a reasonable manner, this platform is loaded with people arguing over whether the biggest or best part is in one country or the other. Low IQ stuff. Did the adults all go to Bluesky?

@DrDavidMiano @SagasofBharat How is it academic freedom when Truschke blatantly lies that there are bigger Indus Valley sites in Pakistan than in India? She is not a fair and honest person. She has vested interest in diminishing everything that Indian hold dear.

@Satvik_Pen The real issue here doesn’t seem to be that Pakistanis and Bangladeshis don’t have a claim to the IVC. It’s just that they seem to inconsistently weaponise it for digs against India, but then simultaneously affirm their own projects of rejecting everything that meaningfully…
